PixelJunk Eden's easy patch coming this week to US [Update: Encore announced]
While available in Japan and Asia since December, American gamers will be able to get their hands on a new PixelJunk Eden patch this Thursday. The patch adds new features requested by fans. Firstly, a lot more time has been added on the clock. If that's not enough, there's a new continue system in place for those that just can't make it to that last Spectra. A new control scheme and adjusted camera system should be a pleasant addition for those that don't necessarily want an easier game.
Europe still doesn't have a concrete release date beyond "Coming soon."
Update: A PlayStation.blog post also reveals that an "Encore" expansion pack will be released for Eden in the coming months. Dylan Cuthbert also adds that Trophies can't be collected if you die and choose to use a Continue. The added time should help, though.

Well, I love challenges but this was so frustrating that I'm actually happy for this update.
Pumapayam @ Jan 13th 2009 3:44PM
This will make the game much more enjoyable, especially when trying to achieve those long drawn out 4 and 5 spectra level challenges. Nothing worst than running out of time just missing that last spectra and starting ALL over.
diego @ Jan 13th 2009 3:44PM
Will the trophies be easier to achieve?
debaser @ Jan 13th 2009 3:45PM
Seriously frustrating! But I love it.
This game made me realize another benefit of a wireless controller, they are much easier to throw across the room.
obtusegoose @ Jan 13th 2009 4:09PM
I'm looking forward to trying the new demo. The original game was too frustrating; and this is coming from someone who played through P.J. Monsters.
tdrules @ Jan 13th 2009 4:05PM
yay
maybe the trophies might be achievable!!
Jonathan @ Jan 13th 2009 4:36PM
This is so sad. I can't believe developers are bowing down to the mass of mediocre players.
I already have 90% of the trophies so for the people complaining that the trophies are impossible to get: no, they're not, you just suck at the game.

Or maybe the developers are trying to make it more fun for those of us who don't want gaming to be a chore.
Tez @ Jan 13th 2009 4:25PM
It doesn't even sound like it will make the game "easy," just not so damn impossible.
Game_playa @ Jan 13th 2009 4:29PM
Vegeta, how many hours has it been since Pixel Junk Monsters came out?
OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!!
Erroneus @ Jan 13th 2009 4:30PM
The creators of Pain should make a similar patch, some of the trophies in Pain are ridiculous boring and just take a lot of time and not skill.
Mo @ Jan 13th 2009 4:32PM
thats the only way to keep you playing something so repetitive
somedesigner @ Jan 13th 2009 4:33PM
Cool. Funny how their games are so simple, yet so extremely additive. I managed 100% trophies on PJM (no platinum = frowny face), so now back to PJE.
Huschke @ Jan 13th 2009 9:13PM
lol that reminds me of my girlfriend. she was waaaay into pjm untill she got fed up with it. then after the trophy patch came out she played hours and hours of it over and over again and occupied my playsi o.O untill she managed to get all the trohpies...

Any clue on what the "adjusted camera settings" are about?
Lownotes @ Jan 13th 2009 4:52PM
I wish they would fix the burn in problem with all of their games. The option in the menu is not enough. The logo should fade out after 15 seconds or so.
RazLeBoL @ Jan 13th 2009 4:57PM
Not buying it. Eden was not really fun despise what everyone says about it. Monsters was awesome though. Me and my girlfriend probably put over 200 hours on it.
Jerses @ Jan 13th 2009 5:56PM
Maybe you are like me... i hate that god damn repetitive music. But you can always mute it and put something else ( somewhere else). But the game is fine and addictive also frustrating when playing with a friend.
Maybe with this patch the game will be more playable.
Levi @ Jan 13th 2009 7:25PM
holy crap dude... I loved Monsters too, but 200 hours?
With Eden, I think you either get it or you don't... I love it, and I have a friend or two who love it too. My bro and co-worker, however, just don't see how it's fun at all.
RazLeBoL @ Jan 13th 2009 8:18PM
Yeah. At least 200 hours I'd say. We played it all together on Coop, got rainbows almost everywhere. We redid it solo which is much harder and we also did all the challenges.
rko_kero @ Jan 13th 2009 5:50PM
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!~
Levi @ Jan 13th 2009 6:46PM
I don't think the game needs more time, but the continue addition sounds perfect. Time is really the only thing that creates challenge, but the fact that you have to start all the way over if you screw up a 40 minute run trying to get that last spectra is kind of annoying.
jbni @ Jan 14th 2009 5:34AM
Ah, level 7...how I hate thee.
All the rest are fine though. That level just messes with my mind!
dave @ Jan 28th 2009 11:08PM
I've already collected all 50 spectra, so this patch won't help me. It does make me concerned that my accomplishment will be cheapened though. There's a whole lot of effort needed to finish the game. Now, not so much.
