Sony gives away money in PlayStation Home ... in Hong Kong
This is a promo we'd love to see in our region. Sony Computer Entertainment Asia is giving away HK$10 (about $1.30) in PlayStation Network credit to those that are able to find a "mysterious avatar" in Sony's virtual world. Clues can be found on posters in the service.
The money certainly isn't enough to buy anything significant, but it is enough to buy a trinket from the PlayStation Home's in-world store. Participate in a game and win free virtual pants? We like the sound of that. Hopefully, SCEA or SCEE will do something similar in the future.

great if your into lbp which im not. more power to you (not sarcasm) anyone that dont like my point of view or opinion can suck it! just because you disagree people dont have to be such a dick! and im not talking about anyone who directly replied to my comment but the bashers below. i enjoy home as much as the next person but i dont see spending real money on fake items. i have a real life.

It's "Where's Waldo?" for HOME
I can't wait if they do this for America
maroofh @ Jan 15th 2009 6:11PM

jebus1992 @ Jan 13th 2009 5:48PM

InFaMoUs1- @ Jan 13th 2009 5:56PM

Danny F. @ Jan 13th 2009 6:07PM
...Home is basically a Second Life but for the PS3... and here I thought Sony had something awesome in their sleeves... what a load of $hit...
Maverick Saturn @ Jan 13th 2009 7:05PM
Whats wrong with that? You take the idea of a successful brand and establish it on another popular brand, success :D How would you have done things any better mr successful businessman I have never heard of?
Mr. Joe @ Jan 14th 2009 10:11AM
@mav - you've never heard of danny f.? he's on the up n up. just wait. you'll eat your words. oh and mr. f., i love your color of socks today!
Danny F. @ Jan 14th 2009 10:49AM
Oh yes!! Cuz Second Life is soooo successfull that I would definitely bet my life extension of my $400 console on it! Come on man.... Im a sony fanboy at heart still back from the old ps1 days, but sonys time spent on this is honestly not what I expected and as of right now seems to have been a waste of time...
Marc @ Jan 13th 2009 6:20PM
maybe it's the avatar from the show avatar on nick.
sean @ Jan 13th 2009 6:23PM
bunch of whiners here. i wish sony was like microsoft and charged you cry babies for every single last thing. maybe it would keep you people away from the PS3 and its sites.
Jerses @ Jan 13th 2009 6:50PM
yeah, why are people so agresive when something new comes to home... or maybe they miss the old "delayed!!! again!? /&%/$%%/& you sony"
$1.30 its like 3 tshirts...for having fun ( or at least another thing to do in home).
I like home...i dont use it every day but im happy to find a place to meet people so i can play games with. I even meet people to finish does hard trophies on LBP or a party for resistance 2 from my country. so its not worthless.
Jerses @ Jan 13th 2009 7:01PM
I figure it out!!!! I solve the mysterious avatar!
1. A character from a harem manga (1 guy, 5 girls)
2. THe mystery is that everyone in the photo are males.
no?
Peter @ Jan 13th 2009 8:00PM
They did do something like this in America, it was a Home Forum contest and you won clothes.
I'd like to see something like this in Europe.
j.howlett @ Jan 13th 2009 8:16PM
sounds like a fun distraction. i was in home over the weekend and stayed longer than i intended trying to improve on my air race time
Gameplayer112 @ Jan 13th 2009 8:30PM
its totally worth it. l could use that money for some episodes of robot chicken, all l would have to do is pitch in the extra 69 cents

Home is bitching, If you don't like then don't like it quietly to your self. It's just the tip of the iceberg right now. How can you complain about free anything for playing a game, no matter how silly it may be. There was a day when you played for high score and you got nothing for it. Except your initials at the top of a score board and a pocket full of quarters gone.
Tyler @ Jan 14th 2009 11:22AM
I agree!
Except with the initials on the score board and quarters gone... That is a little before my time.
ANYWAY
It is free... What is there to complain about? Don't like it, then don't look for the avatar. SIMPLE.
Game_playa @ Jan 13th 2009 10:18PM
Nevermind....
JayFight @ Jan 14th 2009 12:34AM
when i played city of heroes/villains i did the same thing except i had made waldo for heroes and carmen sandiego for villains and the prize was like 1 million in game cash i only did it a couple of times and intended to get the both of them to about level 50 so i would be high enough in level to get that much cash in like an hour of random killing or so instead of the week or so it took at the lower levels i think it's fun to do this kind of thing and no matter which side your on but they need to make it more then just $1.30 or else it's not really worth the time now if i just happened to stumble across them by accident then it is worth it

is this really what I have to look forward to as a PS3 owner? Free pants. Jeez! People are actually getting excited about this? This is just sad.
DeathroW @ Jan 14th 2009 6:45AM
MusterBuster on the EU playstation forums did something similar to this just before xmas, asking people to find him and the first 10 people to find him got free copies of everybodys golf.
crayzedcrazed @ Jan 15th 2009 10:20AM
I don't see why people are complaining about the amount that is given. Also it is PSN credit it didn't say you must buy something at home, with $1.30 you can take $1.30 off your next $10 purchase
