Play Resistance 2 with Insomniac this Friday
This Friday Resistance 2 fans will have the opportunity to play the game against members of Insomniac. The event will take place between 7pm and 8pm GMT (that's 2pm and 3pm EST). Details on which room this will take place in will be revealed at 7pm GMT on Friday in the announcement thread on the European PS3 forums. So if you've always wanted to show the guys who made Resistance 2 just how much better than them you are at their game, this might be your chance.

francisco @ Jan 14th 2009 6:07PM
they will get owned mwahaha ;] unless they cheat with their codes they use to create the game XD
Frankenstein Black @ Jan 15th 2009 9:13PM
No thanks! I'm waiting for that 2 player off-line split screen campaign mode patch, you know for when a friend comes over ;^\... I think Resistance 1 had that right? So what date is the patch coming anyways?
SaMav @ Jan 14th 2009 5:28PM
This is confusing....
It says it will be taking place from 2pm to 3pm EST and the announcement on which room this will be taking place in will be at 7pm EST???
SourceJR @ Jan 14th 2009 5:58PM
no it says 7GMT which is 2 PM EST
Kodros @ Jan 14th 2009 5:58PM
Unless they just updated it, the article says "Details on which room this will take place in will be revealed at 7pm GMT"
SaMav @ Jan 14th 2009 7:07PM
yea, they did update the article.
SaMav @ Jan 14th 2009 7:18PM
Hey Jem, can you delete my comments? lol. ever since yall changed it to the correct time people are probably thinking that i dont know how to read. THanks :)
spikeylee @ Jan 14th 2009 5:29PM
too bad i'll be at work because this sounds like it would be an absolute riot!!
i think the times listed are wrong though; event takes place on Friday at 2-3pm EST, but the room is revealed on Friday at 7pm EST?!
Maulok @ Jan 14th 2009 5:36PM
I just got the game for a late Christmas present and haven't played it much yet. I would get my butt schooled something serious. Maybe I'll try to hold my own.
dabamf @ Jan 14th 2009 5:40PM
It's tough bro, steep learning curve that's even more unforgiving when you're up against 59 other people!
DKY @ Jan 14th 2009 5:39PM
Well, according to the announcement thread. It says to check back at 2pm EST. 7pm is GMT that the author posted.
Erik Stroud @ Jan 14th 2009 5:56PM
Cool, maybe I will try. Some of the head guys for Insomniac are also coming to the Carolina Game Summit.
djpenny1 @ Jan 14th 2009 6:13PM
they been doing this for weeks
dabamf @ Jan 14th 2009 6:15PM
Considering I only last about 2.5 seconds between respawns, I think I'll pass!
PSN: Erdie @ Jan 14th 2009 6:25PM
Sounds fun, but I'll be at work, as I assume many others will.
DRY_ICE @ Jan 14th 2009 6:29PM
This is just a publicity stunt aimed at creating more interest in a game that never really lived up to its hype (and definitely fell short of the greatness of the first). Playing with the creators won't be that fun anyway I'm guessing... but then again maybe it'll make buying the lame duck all worth while? Haha.
j.howlett @ Jan 14th 2009 7:55PM
disregarding what you think of the games success, it is like a promotion. i believe they did it for the first game and the same types of events have been done for GTA4 and COD.
Erik Stroud @ Jan 14th 2009 10:21PM
Even if it is a promotion, it is a good chance to talk to them about the stuff they do. Good chance for aspiring game devs.
jarhead906 @ Jan 15th 2009 1:41AM
Oddly, I kind of agree with you (not on the whole publicity stunt though).
Resistance: Fall of Man was a new IP that had so much potential for expansion. While it was only a launch title for the PS3, it was fantastic. The setting and atmosphere made for a game that was as unique and interesting as Half-Life or Resident Evil.
In my opinion, Resistance 2 sort of dropped the ball on what could have been an epic continuation of a great IP. The visuals, in comparison to many other games (exclusive or not to the PS3) is average at best. For a game company that is known for its quality (Insomniac) there were a lot of issues with the AI and lighting.
Multiplayer is the strong suit of the game but with games that definitely surmounted their prequels, it's hard to think of it as spectacular. I hope to get the Trophies soon so I can sell it and use the funds for Killzone 2.
Max @ Jan 14th 2009 6:30PM
i would play it but my ps3 got the yellow light of death before christmas and R2 was in it. i got a new ps3 in two days from sony, but they sent my ps3 from england to America to do a 10 min job to get it out and then send the game back to me within 6 WEEKS.
you don't know how pissed of with this and think that i not the only one who thinks this is the biggest waste of time!!!
Popfrogs @ Jan 14th 2009 6:36PM
That sucks, but I bet this is how their process goes.
1. Receive broken PS3 in the US.
2. Ship refurb, different PS3 back to you.
3. Ship your broken PS3 off to refurbishing place.
4. Remove games, fix and refurb broken PS3.
5. Ship refurbed PS3's around the globe to repair centers along with games.
From there they probably send you your game. Was the game and replacement PS3 from the same address?
glitched @ Jan 14th 2009 6:36PM
So rented resistance 2 and beat the single player campaign. Knowing how multiplayer centric the game is (but without knowing the details) i brought it over to game night at my buddies house for some 4 player action (warhawk still rules) and we were flabbergasted to find we couldnt play 4 player. :(
Seth @ Jan 14th 2009 7:29PM
I like this game but it needs a patch and new content now.
RagingStormX @ Jan 14th 2009 8:09PM
R2 for me is starting to suck big time...all I have left do do is get 10K kills for my platinum trophy (got 7.3k so far) and I don't see myself touching that game again...ever! As Seth said above me...that game needs a major patch, but I don't think that even new content could get me back to this game. The game is good...but everything it has to offer gets stalling rather quickly and the present bugs/issues doesn't help much either. It seems like I am finding more joy in the idea of knowing the time soon comes where I have done everything and won't have to touch the game again...as oppose tp doing everthing in the game and stilll can't get enough.
il_duce620 @ Jan 14th 2009 11:04PM
Try playing it before commenting, dude. We don't like ignorant people around here.

Tony @ Jan 15th 2009 2:58AM
This is the best game I've played in ages. The single player was great, but I am so hooked on the online co-op it's untrue. I've not been this addicted to online fps-ing since back in the day...1997, Quake 2 DM :)
Nice one Insomnia!
gerard desmond @ Jan 15th 2009 6:01AM
yo no offence to the americans but this is for the europeans so stay away.yous got your chances to play against them when resistance fom was out.if im not mistaken every first friday of the month on res fom at 7pm est insomniac used to hold a game against american fans.i remember getting into one of the games and they all had moon symbols over there names but i got kick because it was for americans.so give us a chance to play them will yas.oh and they owned everyone that played them
Dan Rabot @ Jan 15th 2009 10:06AM
I agree entirely, I bought it, played it for 3 or 4 days pretty much non stop, just TRYING to get it to grow on me.
But blasting a million plasma rounds a second into people who are jumping around, hitting them with most of a mag before they finally die SUCKS BIGTIME.
I mean surely fantasy shooters in ridiculous worlds with stupid weapons (that feel like shit to be honest, the guns look, sound and feel like toys) are old, done and tired.
Resistance 2 = PS3's Halo, and Halo sucks.
I'm enjoying COD still, a little bored, cannot wait for Killzone 2, but Resistance 2 goes on my way way way too overhyped for 2008 list.
You gotta be careful though, this place is pretty much Resistance 2 Fanboy, i swear it's packed with 12 year olds who want to shoot aliens a million times with laser guns.
maxpontiac @ Jan 15th 2009 11:04AM
Have to let my son know about this. He is far better at this game than I am.
EU-Res2 @ Jan 15th 2009 5:50PM
WoW seriously, gtfo USA please? This is SUPPOSED TO BE EU. Not for USA/JP garbage ok? You have your own god damn dev nights for R2. It wasn't posted anywhere for the USA was it?... I'm sure the dev's will be heftly booting usa accounts from the match. No need for you guys to take our places right, I'll check the acc's on the match and just shoot down the mic for you guys to be booted if im in. You had ur chances.
djpenny1 @ Jan 15th 2009 6:38PM
