Final Fantasy XIII won't hit global market until at least April 2010

This news should come as largely unsurprising to Final Fantasy fans that have become accustomed to delays and long waits for new games. Thankfully, PS3 owners have a ton of other games to look forward to in 2009.

Well it's because they have to wait for the 360 version as well. What i don't get is why wont they do what they did with Bioshock. Late release for 360 >.>

Oh, but MSoft has the fans in mind when they delayed its release so it coincides. They're bringing it to more people, right?
I agree, it really should be like Bioshock. I still think Versus will be the big decider for everyone buying consoles for FF13.

Kinda odd that Square had no issue in not holding back the 360 version of last remnant until the PS3 version was done.

ground up? why? FFXIII is built on PC's using Crystal Tools.. then it is optimised for PS3 or 360.. with 360, it'll be about how to share the data, along with working out compression so not to reduce quality. also the amout of loacalisation to go on the different versions (than again with the xbox discs). it'll most likely 4 xbox discs if it really is that lengthy with only 3 languages to a set..).. this will be why there's going to be such a delay..
Just wish I had the time to enjoy RPGs nowadays, could be worse by then too.. *gutted*

I would import this from Japan IF I didnt think it would have DLC.......which would mean I would HAVE to get it from the JP store.......still might import and then buy it again when its released here.......

It's smart of everybody to make this gen last a long while.
Just look at how many people are still getting a PS2 because of the prices for these consoles. If they can both do a 10 year cycle and bring us amazing experiences, then that's just great I think.

Blah, another delay for a game that more than likely will be a complete let down. I've lost all hope for this washed up franchise. I'm sick of SE makig flashy graphics and bad games. FFXI Online is about the only game I've enjoyed from SE aside from the KH franchise. I thinhk I'll be just fine playing White Knight, I am waiting for FFXIII Versus though. :D

Sure seems like everyone is taking their sweet time making PS3 RPG's this generation. Although if they're as lame as Last Remnant, they *should* take their time.
Can anyone besides SquareEnix make a decent RPG in the meantime? We're starving over here.

I seem to remember SE saying they were going to seriously cut down on the long times it takes to release their games in the West...
... then they announced the 360 port.
Still, they've been true to their word with all the other games they developed and published this gen, with Western releases coming just after the Japan one. Shame they've all been on the 360, and not the PS3 though.

Evidently Japanese companies are all about lip service. Capcom says they heart Sony and will be doing alot for us, then they go and release the RE5 demo on the 360 first.

well one thing is good, by the time they release it for the 360 in japan the whole country will have played it on there ps3s and the hype would have died down
and i bet M$ have payed big bucks (yet again) to delay the ps3 version in the west, so they can port it over to the 360 and release it at the same time

Uh guys, they said TODAY that the game is for NEXT business year... next business year is starting April 2009, not 2010. You should learn how to count, they never said that it will be in "the business year after the next one". So it's between april 2009 and march 2010

He said Q1 2010. 'This year' 'That year' or 'Any other year' wasnt mentioned at all.
It's dated in Japan for Q4 09, which technically may not make it in this calendar year either.

This is total BS.....why do we have to wait so long until the 360 version is ready to release it to the rest of the world? Squeer-Anus didn't make the 360 version of Last Remnant wait until the PS3 version is done (if it will ever be done..). If they are going to be anything...atleast be fair. I am going to get the game whenever it comes out...but I hate the way most well known gaming companies are opperating nowadays. I guess I will join the ranks of modded X360 owners and just pirate their x360 games like the majority of all the 360 owners out there.

Where does that leave Versus? Seriously... Versus out in NA 2012.
The delay does not seem to be MS fault completely. If the game won't even be out in Japan until late this year than April would be about 6 months or so from that time. 6 months is about the same time it took them to localize ff12.

I've been waiting for this game for awhile now. But the wait is starting to get rather tedious now. 2010. Yikes. But then again my original prediction was 2011 and also like someone said, does this mean Versus 13 will be 2012 release since i think its behind in developement compared to FF13.
Like others, if the jap version has eng subtitles, i will be importing too. If my interest level is still up by the time release date rolls around that is. Interest is slowly dwindling :(
