HAAS599 @ Jan 16th 2009 1:20PM
650mb or so...
LegendaryRedass @ Jan 16th 2009 5:42PM
You are so right. Even on a 20mb connection everything takes forever to download. They need to update their servers.
kentuckyfried @ Jan 16th 2009 12:50PM
What's the point of having Qore if all the downloads are essentially going to be free shortly thereafter?
I guess I should have as much fun with it with my week-in-advance status. (I picked it up on a whim for mostly the KZ2 stuff).
William @ Jan 16th 2009 12:53PM
Can you still buy an annual subscription to Qore? I looked for it on the PSN a couple days ago, but all I could find was the monthly ones.
sean @ Jan 16th 2009 1:01PM
yes u can still get the subscription. its in there somewhere. cant get to PS3 to check for you. you'd get it from January 2009 to January 2010
supafreak76 @ Jan 16th 2009 3:56PM
I haven't been able to find the annual subscription either. I have looked all over the marketplace too. Does anyone have any insight to this? Google hasn't seemed to have shed much light on this.
IcerC @ Jan 16th 2009 6:41PM
A little bird told me qore is soon to be no more.
HeavyToka @ Jan 16th 2009 12:55PM
I downloaded the demo last night and it was great, if not a little short, but it was a demo.
maxpontiac @ Jan 16th 2009 1:14PM
Demo was pretty good.
I will say this however..
..there is ALOT of blood.
XKefkaX @ Jan 16th 2009 1:27PM
The demo was fun, but having L2 to aim and R2 to shoot felt kind of awkward. Too bad you can't switch around the controls, but other than that it was great.
Trax @ Jan 16th 2009 2:03PM
Yeah, once I got the trigger controls down and stopped throwing grenades everywhere I wanted to shoot, it was kind of cool.
PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 16th 2009 1:47PM
an ENTIRE Week Earlier???
man they are REALLY gonna have to have better things in Qore if they want more subscribers.....
matt2005usaf @ Jan 16th 2009 2:52PM
The demo ran pretty slow on the PS3, so lets just hope this isn't another shitty port. If so I guess I'll get it for the white box as I played the first FEAR on that.
orthonovum @ Jan 16th 2009 2:56PM
throw your PS3 away and buy a new one then because there must be something wrong with yours, mine ran super fast looked great and was smooth as silk
jared @ Jan 18th 2009 4:24PM
i downloaded the demo and im not an annual subscriber, i just downloaded the one episode for 3 bucks. i dont know why all the sites say annual subscriber. i didnt play much of it though, i was pretty tired, and yes the controls feel awkward, especially sprinting being mapped to L3, thats stupid. The AI is real good the graphics seem nice. (extremely dark though if you have the settings the way the game tells you to) I might buy the full game
yocdub @ Jan 20th 2009 1:27PM
Same here, I only bought the single issue and was able to download the demo. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the game. I've played better shooters, but it was enjoyable.
Tez @ Jan 16th 2009 5:49PM
You guys are nuts, this demo sucked. The gun handling was floaty, the framerate was awful, and all the little cheap 'scares' they scattered around got old fast. The ragdoll physics are second-rate, the AI is idiotic (one enemy sat crouched behind a crate, fully visible, doing absolutely nothing while I stood in the open reloading), and the slow-motion gimmick has been played-out for a while.
This game is not good.
Popfrogs @ Jan 16th 2009 7:57PM
So basically it's the same as the first one.
Tez @ Jan 16th 2009 8:01PM
Dunno, never played it.
deathxrebirth @ Jan 17th 2009 12:35AM
Totally agree with everything you said. Got bored and didn't even finish.
I didn't have high hopes for this and the demo secured those thoughts.
Ah well, Killzone 2 and RE5 in a little over a month.
Levi @ Jan 17th 2009 10:09AM
I actually did have high hopes, as I thought the first one was AWESOME. Tons of fun, superb combat engine. It was massive fun when you walked into a section of the office where you knew there were going to be guys popping up from almost nowhere, hit the slow mo button, and go to town. The cheap scares you speak of were actually placed very well in the first game. The only time I jumped in a "scary" game is when you walked to the end of a ledge, turn around to use the ladder to go down, and when your vision came back up, that girl was standing there. Totally didn't expect it. The last level in FEAR was one of the craziest last levels ever. You really must all eBay it on the PC and give it a shot. Very underrated game.
This demo let me down though. Nothing about it seemed as fun as the first, and I agree about the cheap scares. I'm not sure what you can do to throw an unexpected scare at a player in a sequel of this nature, but they were still cheap. I imagine the game is on PC too, so if I can find it cheap on eBay after a while I'll pick it up just based on the quality of the first game. Though, if it's a more modern engine, my PC won't be able to handle it I'm sure.

Matt is right. i played it on my ps3 and it was slow at some points and the jaggies were pretty bad too. I liked fear 1 on all the platforms but this was just not good. I am hoping that this was an alpha build or something otherwise if the xbox demo is better, then you know the ps3 is in for a shit port.
Also L2 and R2 felt awkward how? i guess im an xbox guy so playing like that felt completely natural.

gfx blows killzone 2 will wreck this game, weird controls, annoying popups of ghost randomly which gets old fast - avoid
kingotnw @ Jan 18th 2009 3:52AM
I actually thought it was pretty freaky. The insane amount of blood in the school caught me off guard. I guess I just don't understand this need for a crazy amount of gore, the blood that saprays everywhere when you shoot the guys doesn't add anything at all.
Alex @ Jan 19th 2009 1:25PM
You guys must be on drugs or something.
I'm playing through the first FEAR right now, and it just feels like a chore. Running through the exact "office" locales, fighting the same retarded enemies, and having little to no story to propel my interests at all. I thought the FEAR 2 demo showed an upgrade in every sense of the word. Graphics were great, I actually prefer the new controls (more streamlined to more played games like CoD4) and the scares are very well implemented instead of just you climbing up a ladder in first person to see a figure once you reach the top.
Also, even though the Mech gameplay seems kind of gimmicky...it was pretty well done.

I just played through the F.E.A.R. 2 demo and not only was i scared but i was having an incredible BLAST! it sent chills up my spine many many times. The only thing that i did not like was the use of the sniper rifle, seemed very cheesy at that point, the snipers reminded me of the spec ops women dressed in black that you meet in the first half-life though =)
