Japan getting Carnival Color PSP systems
Japan is also getting their hands on the new Carnival Colors line of systems, first discovered in the PlayStation Asia market. In addition to the previously revealed blue and red systems, Japan will also be receiving yellow and green systems. Radiant Red and Vibrant Blue will be available on March 5th; Bright Yellow and Spirited Green will be available on March 19th. Each system will cost 19,800?.
Also of note: PlayStation Japan will also sell extended life battery covers for each of these systems. The batteries are discontinued here in the States, but interested buyers can still look through their favorite import store.

I still can't find a reason why SCEA does not allow more then just the black PSP to be sold by it self. I love the look of the blue and if it could ever come out in the US I would want to buy another PSP.

Because Sony has decided to waste no time or money on the USA market, despite there being so many units sold here. They refuse to port over high profile JP games and then blame 'piracy' for the lack of interest and developer support (bullshit).
Sony is simply screwing up. They're making bad choices and there's no accountability at the corporate level so they blame the end users for the lack of 1st party and 3rd party development.
Hey Sony - Anyone tell you that you're pulling a PC-Engine with the PSP? Go look up your pals at NEC and see how that particular mega-popular JP console did over here with no support and no imported games.

word. the "piracy" excuse is so lame and just doesn't hold water. used game sales/trades probably account for just as much "lost revenue" as piracy.

It's more like: "Power Rangers PSP Colors" =]

Gurbinder @ Jan 26th 2009 2:22PM
The green one looks pretty slick
HappyFunBall @ Jan 26th 2009 4:36PM
Get the 4 of these together with a black one, and you can have your very own Voltron PSP. "And I'll form the head!"
mike @ Jan 26th 2009 10:04PM
the green one is so sweet

I like my "custom" PSP just fine.
("Custom" meaning "covered in Pokemon and Van Gogh stickers".)

I wonder what's the difference between the carnival red and the deep red? These illustrations aren't really a good judge of what they'll look like in real life.

"PlayStation Japan will also sell extended life battery covers for each of these systems. The batteries are discontinued here in the States"
That's messed up. The extendo-battery is the single greatest thing you can add to the PSP by a long shot. Even if they don't ship it to retail stores, they should at least offer it on their sonystyle website.
Oh well, we're all used to getting the crumbs by now, right?

One Day, I'm going to go to Japan and get myself one of those and one of my family members that are interested to Video Games.
crowsticky12345 @ Jan 26th 2009 8:28PM
The good thing that I just find out is to get it on Ebay!!!!!!!!!!!!!
exetermako @ Jan 26th 2009 10:40PM
And people wonder why the PSP is dying in the West (software wise) when Sony NEVER supports their own system by doing things like this over here. Hell, I'd buy one as a second PSP if I could get that Blue one. Sexy.
dronesensor @ Jan 27th 2009 12:15AM
those are slick. so much better looking than the flat-colored PSP systems they've released here in the U.S. (i'm lookin' at you, hideous child's-toy-like GOW and madden PSPs).
MarkShark @ Jan 27th 2009 12:18PM
But where can I get a PSP that's all of those colors at the same time so I can name it the Van Elita?
Muffy @ Feb 9th 2009 2:20PM
We need a lime green PSP.
