LittleBigPlanet adds new search functionality
While scrolling across a patch-covered Earth still isn't the most effective way of finding well-built stages in LittleBigPlanet, Media Molecule recently added a few new options to make the "Text" search functionality a bit more ... functional. For instance, you can now search for words in a level title by adding a $ before the search term (as in $Joystiq). You can also search for a specific word by putting single quotes around a search term -- a search for 'Joystiq' will no longer bring results of "Joystick", "Toy's Trick" or the infinitely unsettling "Roy Licks."
Similarly, you can use quotation marks to search for specific phrases, like "Extreme Duck Race Version 2.0". However, the most welcome addition is the ability to search for a specific author using an "@", as in @QuincyBoi13. You can use any combination of these new search functions to get more specific results -- of course, in order to do so, you have to know what you're searching for.

That's pretty cool!
I haven't played many community levels yet (only about 20-30), but this will surely make it easier to find ones made by my PSN friends!

an easier way is to use the moon to the left. you can go through your friend list and see their levels, page through with R1 and L1 to see what levels and creators they hearted
maroofh @ Feb 25th 2009 3:41PM
Im not sure everyone on LBP will remember/understand how to use this. But useful if you do use it im sure
Woz @ Feb 25th 2009 4:04PM
This is worthless to the 98% of players who don't read forums and blogs. They don't tell you about this method of search so no one will use it.
Tez @ Feb 25th 2009 4:33PM
There is a News section on the left moon... they could probably post it up there.
Woz @ Feb 25th 2009 4:36PM
I wouldn't count on that. They don't update that. They certainly didn't update that when they improved the author search which has been implemented for about a month now
DarkNessBear @ Feb 25th 2009 4:10PM
Ooo, very handy! I expect with this new obtained power you all do search up @Darknessbear, 'Little Dead Space' and 'Little Dead Space 2'. Come share the love! =)
slycooper_rocker @ Feb 25th 2009 5:18PM
little dead space was sooo epic in so many ways. i didn't know you got the sequel out.
Muhammad-Oli @ Feb 25th 2009 6:39PM
Will do man. Little Dead Space is one of my all time favourites. I look forward to the playing the sequel when I'm playing later tonight. :)

Ditto. Awesome level. The 300 level (it's not mine) is also cool.

"you can now search for words in a level title"
"You can also search for a specific word"
"you can use quotation marks to search for specific phrases"
"the ability to search for a specific author"
For a game that prides itself in its online community full of levels, am I the only one who thinks it's embarrassing that they're JUST now doing this?
Also, if it's not default to look for a specific word and a word in the title at the same time, what ARE you searching for?
Tez @ Feb 25th 2009 4:35PM
"For a game that prides itself in its online community full of levels, am I the only one who thinks it's embarrassing that they're JUST now doing this?"
Not really. My friends and I have plenty of fun going around the planet, looking for interesting levels and hopping into them.
j.howlett @ Feb 25th 2009 4:58PM

DrunkMiffy @ Feb 25th 2009 6:18PM
I can't believe they sank so low as to spell "boy" as "boi"..
Ughh
eNrique @ Feb 25th 2009 8:56PM
Well guys maybe you can try it by searching "Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Opening" to see how it works, I've heard it's a pretty cool level (obviously not mine).
Be sure to check it out!
tiamat5 @ Feb 25th 2009 9:35PM
Dudes thanks. This wil make finding levels much easier
Fane @ Feb 27th 2009 1:34AM
Search is still hampered by cellphone-style interface (if qwerty version is there, I can't find it).
