Looks like PS3 fans are willing to give experimental gaming a chance. The PSN-exclusives
Flower and
Noby Noby Boy both take the top spots in February. These innovative games take gaming in new directions, and we're glad to see gamers have embraced them.
- Flower
- Noby Noby Boy
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
- 3 on 3 NHL Arcade
- Savage Moon
- Mortal Kombat II
- Bejeweled 2
- Burnout Paradise
- Linger in Shadows
- Magic Ball
It's amazing to see the longevity some of these downloads have.
Mortal Kombat II still rakes in the sales, despite being one of the earliest downloads to launch on PSN. The PSN version of
Burnout Paradise takes the #8 position more than a year after its initial retail release. See? DLC really can make a game that much more attractive. See the top 10 movies, after the break.
- Body of Lies
- Eagle Eye
- Pineapple Express
- College (unrated)
- Pride and Glory
- Righteous Kill
- Rocknrolla
- Step Brothers
- Max Payne (unrated)
- My Best Friend's Girl (unrated)
A very eclectic mix of movies in the PSN's top 10. We do want to point out one thing, though: please stop renting
Max Payne. Why are so many people insisting on self-inflicting so much pain? Please do yourself a favor and avoid it at all costs.

I bought Flower and Noby Noby Boy. Both pretty cool games. I also won 3 on 3 NHL Arcade from Joystiq Xbox, but I don't have an Xbox. :P
Josh @ Mar 13th 2009 12:58AM
Then why'd you enter?
Roto13 @ Mar 13th 2009 1:00AM
Because I like to win stuff.
Mein Bratwurst @ Mar 13th 2009 2:57AM
Well, I hope you at least gave it to someone who actually does own an Xbox...
Roto13 @ Mar 13th 2009 11:41AM
Of course. I don't have it in me to let free games go to waste.
GENTLEMEN @ Mar 13th 2009 12:14AM
How does Mortal Kombat 2 stay up there? It's been out since early 2007 and it's still that popular? You'd think everyone would own it already since it's only five bucks.
David @ Mar 13th 2009 10:51AM
When I always se MK 2 up there in the charts I always think that it serves as an indicator of how the other games are selling. Sony never releases actual sale numbers from their individual PSN products. Instead of thinking that Mk2 is selling like hotcakes I tend to think that all other games aren't selling that well. If they were Sony would proudly show how much they are actually selling. A list without numbers doesn't really tell us anything.
I really hope PSN games are selling enough numbers. I remember reading about Burnout Paradise's numbers and they were around 30,000 when it launched on PSN. Which is great but it's been a few months since that and it makes me think most of those are selling around 4 figures only. A shame really with all the great content offered in the PSN.
Friend @ Mar 13th 2009 12:16AM
I'm glad Flower and Noby Noby Boy got decent sales, hopefully they will release more games like them in the future, and Noby Noby Boys promised DLC if the sales were good.
Darkdrium777 @ Mar 13th 2009 12:31AM
Flower deserves it. Congratulations.
garnsr @ Mar 13th 2009 12:45AM
Hurray for originality! Hurray for weird!
rolo18 @ Apr 1st 2009 1:32PM
Agreed. i got both flower and noby noby noby boy and they are both completely original games. thank god that sony still works hard to give us gamers new experiences.
Colonel Radec (PSN: slycooper_rocker) @ Mar 13th 2009 5:56PM
and linger in shadows is up there too
jarhead906 @ Mar 13th 2009 12:46AM
I feel sorry for anyone that actually purchased/rented College. Don't people realize that college is only like that 1% of the time?
You'd think the movie industry would have moved on by now after American Pie started getting too many spin offs.
Almozd @ Mar 13th 2009 1:30AM
awesome i bought both games and they r so much fun hopefully more developers experiment like they did
Gambit07 @ Mar 13th 2009 3:14AM
Magic Ball is really fun too. I thought it's add-on content will be coming out this week since you can see new trophies when you do compare trophies.
j.howlett @ Mar 13th 2009 5:35AM
i got noby noby boy. still need flower, and money in my psn wallet to get it
flower-man @ Mar 13th 2009 6:58AM
its beauuuuuuuuuuutiful game!
nice!
Archon @ Mar 13th 2009 8:12AM
I'm very sad to say that but those are some really small numbers then.
If you go to o--o.jp - WEB WEB BOY.
You can check the amount of copies of the game sold worldwide.
The page states that there are 49,155 BOYs in total. And that includes multiple accounts people play the game on.
That's quite saddening. This means that all the games below Noby Noby Boy sold less. And Flower probably not much more... :(
BUY PSN GAMES GODDAMIT!
xoonaka @ Mar 13th 2009 2:34PM
Why would someone buy the game on multiple accounts? You got 5 free downloads....
Archon @ Mar 13th 2009 2:39PM
I never said anything about BUYING it on multiple accounts. Or even downloading to multiple accounts. I'm talking about playing a single copy of the game on multiple accounts on the same PS3. That creates new BOYs, so the amount 49,155 BOYs is NOT the amount of copies sold. It's less then that. It's the amount sold+the additional amount of people playing the game on different PSN accounts.
Also, great way to miss the point of my post, xoonaka.

"Why are so many people insisting on self-inflicting so much pain?"
Probably because the video games were AMAZING, yet these people didn't think to read the reviews before renting this horrible adaptation.
Steve @ Mar 13th 2009 10:18AM
It's good to see thatgamecompany's hard work is paying off, I think Sony ask them to produce a music visualisation for the PS3's music player.
LokeSTL @ Mar 13th 2009 10:27AM
Golden turds are still turds. These "innovative" titles should be sold in the $5 junk PC shovelware bin at your local OfficeMax. But you are right, these "innovative" games do take gaming in a new direction. Straight down the toilet. But we need something to play, so there will always be a turd that floats to the top.
As for downloadable movies on my game system, you can keep them. I bought my PS3 to play games on. I'll trade this movie download crap for PS2 capability anyday. But that would mean that Sony would have to focus on games for their game system. That would just be weird.
ryuk @ Mar 13th 2009 2:41PM
first of all, i doubt you have even touched either one of these games and are just an xbox fanboy trolling, or you are a 12 year old who thinks guys hopped up on steroids is the only type of games that are good, either way, stfu
ryuk @ Mar 13th 2009 2:48PM
wow, just looked at your comments......you aren't a very likable person are you?
LokeSTL @ Mar 13th 2009 3:23PM
Nope, never owned either Microsoft console. I am a 31 year RPG gamer who is disappointed with Sony's focus on shooters and minigames this gen. I guess you could call me a disgruntled Sony fanboy. I will remain disgruntled until my investment shows a gain. When RPGs (not WRPGs or this new fuse RPG elements with everything else garbage) start raining on the PS3, you'll probably never see a post from me again this gen. I will be too busy playing to post on anything.
Why is it that if someone doesn't respond to every post with "this game is super!!", he is instantly marked a troll. Aren't I free to state my opinion just like everyone else. I apologize for refusing to be one of the sheep. I will try in the future to blindly agree with the author, and to love any shiny new "experience" that drops out of a devs a$$.
j.howlett @ Mar 14th 2009 1:22AM
i say if you really care for ps2 support you have a ps2 or would have gotten a ps3 when it had a ps2 inside. the rpgs are being bought up because they want to be like the ps2
LokeSTL @ Mar 16th 2009 10:08AM
Then you would say that I really support the BC since I own the 60GB model. The problem isn't that the RPGs are being bought up, it's that Sony isn't doing any of the buying.
unboring @ Mar 17th 2009 10:39PM
i guess this is why the ps3 has the 25+ market and xbox is 14-24 and wii is less then 14. Older gamers generally are looking for new experiences (as well as old ones) and are more open minded to these new gaming directions.
open your mind a little.
Asg @ Mar 13th 2009 11:46AM
flower was the first psn game I ever bought and I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Worth every penny.
ryuk @ Mar 13th 2009 2:37PM
ha, i just bought flower and noby noby boy a few minutes ago, i just got done playing noby noby boy and i am installing flower, noby noby boy is weird yet strangely fun
garnsr @ Mar 14th 2009 12:59AM
The PS3 was supposed to be more Japanese-game oriented, it is weird how the 360 has more RPGs and seems to have a lot of Japanese support, while PSN gets the more interesting western oddities. Flower and Noby Noby Boy are great buys on the PSN, hopefully we'll see more games just on the PS3 that are different enough to justify the price (which really should come down, Sony can't make a profit on systems that they can't sell) for people stuck with (in my opinion) bland 360 games, just because the system's cheaper (if you just compare basic sticker price, not what you actually get.)
