PSN's best-selling game of '08 gets an extensive update today, adding voice chat, a lobby system and online play. Idol Minds' Travis Williams explains that the large amount of physics data that is used in the game will demand a hefty internet connection: a minimum of 256k upstream will be required.
Many new online modes will be introduced, including a paid PAIN content pack, dubbed the "Smack Pack." This premium content will include both Fortress and Darts modes of play. See a video of Fortress, after the cut.
best selling game of 08 my @$s......it was a free dl for anyone who either got a 80GB ps3 or knows anyone that got a 80 gb ps3.....they are counting the number of dl's not the number of actual purchases...the game is crap!
Actually they said 256k upstream and considering alot of companies go for a 10/1 solution, you'll need at least 2.5-3 mbps to get that speed usually, of course companies sometimes give you better upspeed than that ratio, but most of the stuff ive seen is 10/1.
JUST 256k!?!?!? anything lower than that is Dial-up isnt it???
at any rate I Havent played it since they added trophies and they made them hard as shit to get. But with online play I will jump back in it to give it a try again.
many people don't give this game enough credit. This psn game I show to everyone I know and the reactions the same. "Wow! this game is really fun, but it didn't look this fun in the videos." Maybe now that there is online support people will actually play it for more than 5mins and enjoy all it has to offer.

Although this game doesn't catch my interest, i love what they are doing. Nice to see support from developers like this :)

This game is hard to recommend but I find it very enjoyable - It's definatly the PSN game that I've spent most hours with.

So 256kbps of upload is 32kB/s
With my DSL advertised at 5.1Mbps download I know I can get 600kps at best...
All that to say, if you want to play online you always need a good upload, and ISPs don't like to give you upload bandwith
