Get Gigawatts or go Home: inFamous pre-order bonuses detailed
Do you want to have these badass blades in inFamous? Well, you better get ready to pre-order the game at GameStop. The "Gigawatt Blades Power" is a GameStop-exclusive download that's only available when you reserve the game. According to the retailer, the weapon will allow Cole to "annihilate any foe" with his hands. The electric blades that extend from his wrists may be powerful, but the retailer notes that they're also "gentle enough to allow for the occasional tickling." Remember folks, you can't always kill your way out of every situation.
Amazon.com is offering a different pre-order bonus: an exclusive costume for use in PlayStation Home. By reserving the game at the online retailer, players will be able to get a full costume that transforms their virtual avatars into a member of the Reaper gang. You can see that bonus after the break.

Guess no details for a EU shop with pre order bonuses then?
Well, i shouldnt be surprised *sigh*
(i want both, i may try pre order from amazon.com but then I would have to get all DLC from US store right?)
SuperGayParade @ Apr 9th 2009 5:00PM
Why would any company have pre-order bonuses with a video game retailer that does most of their business with resales? Is GameStop not the bane of the video gaming industry, for the developers AND customers?
Hedgeson @ Apr 9th 2009 11:09PM
You know, that's a very good question.
Jon Acheson @ Apr 10th 2009 11:58AM
Because GameStop was willing to pay them for it?
p_ABSO @ Apr 12th 2009 1:46PM
Truth be told I adore the opportunity GameStop affords me to adequately playtest a game before plunking down a hard earned $60 on some crap that some paid reviewer tells me is great.
That being said I don't agree with all of their practices such as opening "new" games, among others.
gkwie @ Apr 9th 2009 5:00PM
Man...people who don't live in UK, US, Japan or even Canada have the worst luck in exclusive content.
Tip: they don't get any :(
David @ Apr 9th 2009 6:03PM
Your not alone man, your not alone.
welodog @ Apr 9th 2009 5:01PM
All the blades do is ruin the gameplay, i dont know about the costume for home though.. might as well just wait for it to come out instead of preorder.
yupers @ Apr 9th 2009 5:15PM
just wait, 2 weeks later it will be free DLC i bet (reminds me of kratos in LBP ) :D
EDW @ Apr 9th 2009 5:13PM
how powerful are these blades exactly? i mean if they're too strong they'll just break the game.
Fu22y_Pumper @ Apr 9th 2009 5:22PM
ok so you get these cool ass blades but only if you perform evil acts and go towards the bad side of the karma system? (they are red) i hope they're available for good cole too.
King JMY @ Apr 9th 2009 5:36PM
I'm getting really sick of this pre-order bonus shit.
Deaddy @ Apr 9th 2009 6:12PM
I think store specific in-game exclusives are a terrible idea. A shirt or magazine is one thing, but actual in-game weapons or abilities? That's not fair to those who either don't have access to the specific store (usually Gamestop,) or just don't want to shop there. Offers like this are a big FU to these people. I'm in Canada, and EB here will probably be offering this, but I'm not going to bite. No jiggawatt blades for me. :(
Devin @ Apr 9th 2009 6:16PM
I agree with you Deaddy. It's not fair to the gamer. Limiting player abilities is not a good way to go. Also, like others have said, why choose Gamestop the anti new game company?
Emophia @ Apr 9th 2009 6:21PM
/agree
tbh, this really makes we want the game less.
crazypenguin @ Apr 9th 2009 7:06PM
um, i'm pretty sure the point is that gamestop pays for them to offer that exclusively at their store... ,so althought it is annoying, some gamers will HAVE TO buy this from gamestop due to this offer. so really, its just bussiness. if you don't want to participate you don't have to.
Devin @ Apr 9th 2009 7:07PM
I will be getting this game regardless, but it does sadden me that they have to do this crap. There has to be a better way to do this. By "this" I mean, sell new copies of games. Drop the price from $60 to $50, maybe? I know, I know, that's asking tooooo much.
Averna @ Apr 9th 2009 9:45PM
I think the developers would be better off putting this kind of stuff up as DLC rather than retailer exclusive crap.
They would probably make more money as well.
Hell, they might offer this crap as DLC later on. Id be cool with that.
awsskate16 @ Apr 9th 2009 7:26PM
So I just pre-ordered this from Amazon, but I'm not sure I paid yet (I'm kinda new to it). Do I pay once the game is available or will they email me an invoice or something?
Joel @ Apr 9th 2009 8:14PM
you will be bill the full amount when it ships
awsskate16 @ Apr 9th 2009 8:16PM
Thanks dude!
Fu22y_Pumper @ Apr 9th 2009 7:19PM
They're red so does that mean that they're only available to use if you make all the evil choices within the karma system? If so then you could play the game through and never have them, if you choose to do good deeds. I bet to get all the trophies though you'll end up having to fully rank both your positive and negative powers, probably requiring two play throughs. This game still looks cool to me.
Averna @ Apr 9th 2009 9:48PM
I would assume it would be in both karma ability move sets.
Honestly, unless they are hiding abilities (which could be true), either side has the same moves, just named something different names. I think the evil grenadey thing has fire in it as well, that was the only difference I saw.
McKeyDee @ Apr 9th 2009 11:35PM
For every weapon there is a good and evil counterpart. GameStop has a video of the weapons in action with a good Cole using them.
KinjiroSSD @ Apr 9th 2009 9:34PM
Kinda silly to hold back actual gameplay affecting content from those who will pay full price for the game elsewhere. Generally pre-order bonuses are passive things like costumes or skins. This is almost as dumbfounding as giving demos to those who already pledged to buy a game.
David @ Apr 9th 2009 10:29PM
I pre-ordered Killzone 2 on Amazon but I never got the costume...was I supposed to receive some sort of email with a code? Anyone here pre-ordered in Amazon and actually get the code for the costume?
QUICKSILV3R @ Apr 9th 2009 10:49PM
yep i did, pre-order kz2 from amazon.com and they emailed me a code for home custume
David @ Apr 9th 2009 10:59PM
thanks! I just found it in my gmail...seems I archived it without reading thinking it was some sort of promotion...ooops! let's see if it still works...
BP fan @ Apr 9th 2009 11:53PM
That reminds me. Got mine code around a month ago, saved the email but never plugged it in.
mgsrocks1 @ Apr 10th 2009 12:45AM
What the fu*k man? All the preorder bonuses seem like stuff that should be included in the retail release. We already pay $60 for god's sake. I'm seriously hating all the stupid trends popping up this generation.
Emperor_Den_Den @ Apr 15th 2009 2:06AM
You know guys, I'm not trying to be the odd guy out of the bunch but well....it just seems like it's no winning with us consumers. I mean come on folks Gamestop payed the money for the content and it's not like it's DLC which will cost like five bucks to buy. I know it's inconveiniant but it's just one of those things u can't really do anything about. Is one minute thing worth you changing your outlook to a game that seemingly has so much potential. It's like when I found out fallout wasn't going to have DLC on the PS3 and MS would. It left a sour taste in my mouth but it didn't stop me from buying the game. Well I guess the point I'm just trying to say is that you guys shouldn't be so upset over things that we aren't willing to actively change, and take time to look at the pros over the cons.
c3nta @ Apr 18th 2009 8:47AM
im putting my money on the gigawatt blades ability for the uk being in opsm (official playstation magazine). Start subscribing boys!! you can buy the subscription from www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk.
