Photos from the Advent Children Complete launch party
Advent Children Complete hits Japanese retailers next Thursday, April 16 and Square Enix is getting ready for it. The company recently held a launch party and early screening for the reworked and completed film. Celebrating in style, SE's party hosted many items fans could only dream of owning -- like a 1/1000 scale Midgar replica (pictured) or a life-sized Buster Sword (after the break). Three Advent Children Complete sets were also on display, and there were Final Fantasy XIII kiosks too -- most likely as a reminder of the demo that comes packed together with ACC.
It seemed like a night to remember. We wished we were there. We'll just have to settle for the next best thing: photos. Luckily, UFFS has more of those, so head over there to see it all.

square enix has milked and raped the FF7 tittle to death.... im tired of it, theyve changed the Cloud i once knew to a super emo kid.... Sequal/Remake? No thank you.... i want to preserve whats left of my good JRPG days.
Jack Spicer @ Apr 10th 2009 7:30PM
When in FF7 was Cloud a "Happy go lucky" guy? Even as a kid he just wanted to kill people.
bubugalu @ Apr 10th 2009 11:52PM
Before adven children he wasnt all depressed and "life isnt worth living" and "i dont think i can do it!" for a hour and a half... in FF7 he had courage and character. AC was jus fancy acrobatics movie with no deep story... no twists, no change in mood... even the ending, man did it suck! The main character of FF13 is even a rip off of Cload.( She was designed to be a female version of Cload ) Squenix needs a revamp, a change in tone/style. Its like having only vanilla but never trying chocolate, strawberry, etc. They dont take chances... just gold dig from previous success.

Bubu, you are only partially correct. The first half of the game he is, for the most part, a confident character. But later on in the story, as more and more of his past is unraveled and he learns more about it, he really begins to doubt himself and his existence. Remember, there's an entire sequence in FF7 where Tifa actually tries to piece together Cloud's psyche after he was severely injured and droppd into the life stream.
I'd like to see you happy after you learned you were, basically, responsible for the death of a friend, born and experimented on, called a failure from said experiment, and find out that your memories are all actually fragments held together by you imposing yourself as said friend in them.

Yeah, Cloud had character alright. He thought he was Zach. Granted, that's pretty well-explained in Crisis Core (a damn good game on its own merits which you should give a chance), but it doesn't change the fact that Cloud is pretty much living a lie for most of VII.
bubugalu @ Apr 11th 2009 3:36AM
Well yea, and he came back from that. In AC, he just moped around till at the end, which in my opinion, was just to boring and predictable... like i said, no twist, bad pace, same over used tone. hey its just an opinion, but they made it to action focused, and the story fell.... which kinda makes me afraid FF13 will end up in the same style, alot of action and weak story... i think im just matured passed FF games. I want something new.

FFVII isn't a JRPG.
And they've fleshed it out a lot more. This FF title has more fans than any other and the game left lots of questions that needed answering.
While I don't think the game needs a remake I believe you learn a whole lot more about the FFVII universe by associating yourself with the extra facets Square have extended upon.
Namely Crisis Core & Advent Children.
SpiderMike @ Apr 10th 2009 6:41PM
FFVII not a JRPG.
They've done well fleshing out the story with CC and AC. I don't think a remake is needed, but I'm glad they didn't leave the fans to question certain plot holes in the core game.

I certainly can't wait until the movie comes out but i don't have the money to buy a Blu-ray DVD player. Well no matter, i'll still get the movie. I still wish i could get some of the other FF7 merchandise as well but, of course, no money. T^T
