Killzone 2 patch goes live on April 22
A laundry list of fixes and features are planned for Killzone 2's 1.24 patch, set to go live on April 22. Included in the patch are fixes for multiple multiplayer exploits and a number of stability issues. The patch arrives just as Japanese gamers are about to welcome Killzone 2 to stores on April 23 and promises to sync files in preparation of the launch.
According to detailed patch notes on the official PlayStation forum, Guerrilla Games hopes patch 1.24 will make finding and connecting with friends much easier and have spiced up multiplayer competition by including three additional ranks to the top of the rankings -- known as 'Hardcore ranks.' But our favorite addition has to be new load screens that advertise the upcoming DLC, 'Steel and Titanium,' releasing on April 30.

Killzone 2, patch 1.24 is sized at 57MB. The following has been fixed/added:
- AI - Bots now skipping disabled/destroyed MGs in warzone when requesting mounted guns.
- AI - Do not claim waypoints for the previous character when it's dead.
- AI - Fixes bots getting stuck trying to arm/disarm S&D object when mission is already over.
- Campaign - Fix for potential progression bug in Salamun Bridge.
- Clan - User name, not users clan displayed in rankings
- Clan - Winning 10 Clan Challenges causes the user to become stuck on the medal awards screen.
- Controls - Lean & Peak - Zoom hold on and out of ammo it switches between regular/scope view rapidly.
- Cosmetic - Blue screen tint which indicates scout cloak is occasionally enabled and will remain indefinitely.
- Cosmetic - White squares on the grenade counter merge together when displayed in 1080p
- Create Game - "Badge Combination" option does not work properly
- Create Game - Online - "clan only" presets apply even after a player leaves a clan
- DLC - DLC pack 1 - 'Steel & Titanium' support DLC - New Loading screens advertising the first DLC pack.
- Exploit - Helghan Industries - Player getting out of map fix.
- Exploit - Radec Academy - User is able to gain access to the roof when revived in a specific location.
- Exploit - Reviving player stuck in wall collision can result in him spawning outside level
- Exploit - Salamun Market - One sided wall allows people to be seen and shot from outside where they cant see or fire out
- Exploit - Tharsis Depot - Player can get out of the "normal" play area and can get into some sniper/camp spots
- Feature - Invite player from friendslist Feature - Join Clan Member list added.
- Feature - Join Game - 17-24 players filter.
- Feature - MP - Moving while seeing scores after pressing SELECT
- Feature - The radar/map now has a larger radius
- Feature - Three additional 'Harcore' Ranks added to the top limits.
- Front-end - Add support to display more than 8 maps when creating a game /challenge/tournament
- Front-end - Sorting ascending and decending ranks working better in 'Rankings'
- Front-end - When in a squad, the Valor Trophy is visible in the Squad Tab, however the users rank is not being displayed on top of it.
- Mods - Official tournament to be displayed first followed by custom created tournaments
- Mods - Additional functionality made avalable to the in-game moderators.
- Network - Server side fix for full games being displayed incorrectly.
- Network - User is unable to use the 'Join Clan Member' tab due to Network Error Code 20002.
- Online - File-synching with the Japanese release of Killzone 2 on the 23rd of April.
- Sound - Turret placing sound continues when killed.
- Stability - Crash when synching gamestate after a full mapcycle
- Stability - Hang on a screen with a blank message window just before a message appears.
- Stability - Reducing the load on the server related to syncing the buddylist
- Stats - If a clan wins 24 Clan Challenges and goes to the result screen, the medal acquisition screen, which normally displays when you win 25 games, will display.
- Stats - Number of air-support grenades used by tacticians does not add to the stats of joined user correctly.
- Stats - Number of spawn-grenades used by tacticians does not add to the stats of joined user correctly.
- Stats - User sometimes does not receive 1000 valor award when winning 10 Clan Challenges.
- Text - % character not displayed correctly on the creating game dialogue box after selecting to create game.
- Text - If a client receives an invite from a clan which has a '$' character in the clan name, the recipient will get kicked
- Text - Minor Italian localization fix.
- Text - Minor Japanese localization fix.
- Tournament - Game decides winner if one of the two teams doesn't spawn in
- Trophies - Fix for Wargod trophy unlocking pre-maturely

Glad they are actually patching them unlike another popular shooter I won't mention by name. Also, when I first started playing after launch I never had any lag whatsoever. Now, there seems to be matches where there is in fact a small amount of lag. Just curious as to why it's happening all of a sudden.

I still wish they would adjust the input sensitivity by a tiny margain. Everything is looking good but I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting them to patch in co-op for the story mode. That would be completely epic.

While I don't like the game personally, I have to say kudos to Guerrilla for actively patching their game and giving some new offering. With this and DLC coming soon it should make fans of the game think that they'll be actively working on the game for quite some time.

I'm quite curious on how the "hardcore ranks" will work... I finally reached general last week and am actively working on the ribbons/badges. I guess I wonder if they're adding new classes or abilities with each rank, or if they're just going to allow us to better identify those people that currently have 3 stars, but actually have well over 2800 points (or something like that)?
Either way, the game is great and I'm having a wonderful time with it. Adding in ranks like that is a huge bonus too, especially now that I'll have some new maps to play on next week!

I'm guessing they are talking about honor ranks. Like, there's what, currently a top 2%, maybe the hardcores are top 1% and top 0.1%.

I wish there was a way to remove HUD elements. Sometimes I wish I could just get rid of the info box on the left, and it saying the players name I a pointing at. The font very large and can be obstructive or a distraction.
How the hell do you get the game to play in 1080p? Is it just the PS3 upscaling it? I would rather the PS3 do no upscaling at all. Thats what my Onkyo TX-NR906 is for.

Why do I feel like the "Hardcore" ranks will be like 10k, 20k, 30k... I mean rank of General is obtainable at 2000 points wasnt it??

Hi, the ranks will unlock (resp.) at: 25k, 50k and 100k.

I hope that doesn't mean, That once you activate the cloak it stays fully purple even when you move. I like it dissapearing when I move to remind me I can be seen.

Great, it's certainly a lot of effort put into the game and it's community, but it's too bad that I'll be busy playing the new free L4D DLC on the PC that day. :P

ok i dont see how being able to invite from friends is really all that helpful. you could already do that just using the regular psn messaging system. also adding the ability to join clan member is redundant too, what are the chances a clan member isn't already in your friends list? if gg is adding these new features to give the players what they are asking for, nobody asked for these. its not a party system. we should be able to get together a group of people in a PRE-GAME room then either create or follow the party leader into an existing game. that's what a party system, is n that's what we're asking for. stop beating around the bush with this one! these half ass attempts in regards to this are just redundant and stupid, nothing has been done to make it easier to meet up with my friends than it was on release day. how this kind of a feature was left out in the first place is baffling to me. you know cod4 was going to be the standard by which you were going to be measured, which by the way i personally think is idiotic, every game should stand on its own merit, n besides i also personally think cod4 sucks!!, but cod4 has a party system as does R2, how did you think you were going to get away without one when the vast majority of the players will have come off of either or both of these games? its not a gameplay rip off its an ease of use issue and imo, the ONLY thing truly lacking in kz2 that needs to be rectified, and quickly!! it is SOOOOOO frustrating and annoying trying to get into games with my friends. please please please please please add a party system!!!!! i do love the game but other than a few other small annoyances, this is the one thing that i really don't like n i'm sure i'm not alone
