Sega working on another Yakuza game for PS3
It looks like Sega was quite pleased with the sales of Japan's PS3-exclusive Yakuza 3. In fact, the company is already working on yet another Yakuza title for Sony's home console, though it won't be a sequel to Yakuza 3 nor the historic Kenzan spin-off.
There's no other information to work with right now, so let's just use this time to do our requisite "please-Sega-will-you-localize-this-game-for-the-West" dance.

What the hell, I'm sure i typed it right. Does the comment system have that kind of bug, or am I mistaken?

Sega you fools. Regionalize this game! Or just create a downloadable patch to add English subtitles (I would pay for it). I own every Yakuza title (including 3 and Kezan, which I paid through the nose to import). There' so much I'm missing from the game because of the lack of subtitles.
Yakuza the best series ever, right up there with Metal Gear Solid. Yakuza 2 has just about the best graphics of a PS2 title.
Yakuza has all the potential in the world, you guys just suck at marketing. Follow Kojima's lead and inject some freaking hype into the game outside of Japan.

By the way, while this is great news and all for Japan, I'd be more excited to see them commit to a Valkyria Chronicles sequel. Then again there are alot of DLC slots in the game so maybe they're gonna milk it first.

So, I played Yakuza 3's demo thinking that it would be a Devil May Cry/Grand Theft Auto mashup in Tokyo...or something like The Bouncer...but, I didn't get that from the demo. I got a pretty simple button mashing beat 'em up. Meh.

Oh....I thought they would finally finish a certain series that ended with a cliffhanger. Get on the ball Sega! Finish the Shenmue series you freakin inconsiderate morons! You're wasting money on crappy Sonic games anyway,(although Sonic Unleashed was decent) so you might as well invest in something worth while.
On topic, I hope they localize Yakuza 3...it looks fun....love the series....*grumble*...I hope they put Ryo Hazuki in the next one.

has anyone played Yakuza 3 and isn't fluent in Japanese? I'd like to know whether I would be able to understand the general gist of it.
rah @ May 8th 2009 2:26AM
I have. I'm not fluent in Japanese, but I do understand a little bit of Japanese. This game is very much language heavy. Honestly, I'm not sure if it will do well here at the states. The culture is so different and I think this story line was written to attract the Japanese market. I'm not sure if localization is worthy of the time and money. Regardless, I was very much addicted to the game for a good few months. I love the story and many other sub-story missions. Sure there is a lot of mashing to do, but the game is so much more unique comparing to GTA4. Personally, i love this game and its on my top fave list of 09'.

I enjoyed the first two Yakuza, and the demo for 3 seemed like more of the same, but very pretty. I'd still much rather have Shenmue finish, though. I'll take Yakuza 3, if that's all they're offering (are they even offering that?)
