Tired of your apartment in Home? Well, you can get a brand new living space for free next week on PlayStation Home. Make sure you don't wait too long to snag the virtual space, as it will only be free from May 14th to May 21st. The new environment features a giant living tree in the middle, and adds a nice fantasy-inspired touch to the PSN world.
Now all u need is some elves and obbsessed 15 year olds and you got WoW lol
(joke, this is pretty kool, i like home but it needs alot more development to be as big as its suppost to be, i tried game lauching with some buds in warhawk through home the other day,was pretty kool actualy, now, wouldnt it be better if it was like tat with a larger roster of games, i expected killzone to feature such an enhancment for example.)
Home is slowly growing into something much more than it was at launch, hence the beta tag, obviously. I'm actually starting to be impressed with this free service and I was a big hater in the beginning. I'm curious about the trophy implantation if that's even still in the works.
The Pulse video released yesterday (I hope you know what Pulse is..) informed that PS3 gamers can now check their trophies online. Just go to playstation.com, enter your PSN id and you can check not only the trophies you have earned but also the ones you're still missing.
We all know that Sony is moving slowly, but this is a step forward. They'll bring trophies to Home someday, I'm sure of it, I just hope they don't take too long..
On a side note, I'm surprised Joystiq that still hasn't reported this, they'll probably do it soon.
They haven't reported it because viewing trophies on playstation.com has been available for a few months already - and they reported on it then.
Also, I doubt that every trophy will unlock a Home equivalent. More likely, we'll get Home rewards for some of the bigger trophies - platinums and possibly golds. Some games are already implementing this (Resident Evil 5, SingStar Namco Museum). In fact, Namco Museum takes it one step further and actually gives you working arcade machines for your apartment (though it really just kicks you out of Home into a game of Namco Museum). All that's left for Sony to do is give us a free trophy room Homespace to put our rewards in. All those Chris Redfield and DigDug statues are crowding up my harbor studio!
I've never used my home spaces. I still have the place i bought for free during the beta its just boring. If we could stream music or movies like Sony said we would then your home space would be cool. But you cant even voice chat so whats the point? I do like Xi though since it gives me something to do.
That's really cool. I went into Home last night intending to just check out the new stuff and maybe buy the movie set, but ended up buying both new apartments (the log cabin is a lot more modern and waaay cooler than I figured it would be)and spending $14 total. I like having a lot of different living spaces to decorate and having fun things to put in there. My favorite Home swag is still the Resident Evil figures I got for free by conquering the game- but the Chun-Li figure I bought last night is really dope. I would've bought more SF toys, but at $2 a pop, I already have a little buyer's remorse. Don't even get me started on the weak-ass SF costumes, they look like hell! The RE costumes came out much better, though. A lot of the stuff is too overpriced, but I can't help but pick up some of it...
Hey Ash- It's in the store in the mall that sells the apartments (can't remember the exact name). Just walk into the store and browse the available spaces. The "Chamber" apartment will be listed as $0.00- just add it to your cart and checkout and it's yours. Today is the last day to get it, though- if it's not already gone! Hurry and go check or you will be SOL. They've said it won't even be up for sale after today... it's really cool, too. Good luck!
This'll be my 3rd apartment, but should be 4th because I plan on buying the movie studio apartment tonight after I get a PSN card.
I'm really impressed at how much we've been getting in Home lately. Hopefully they add some new clubhouses as well since the one they got right now is getting tiring on me :p
You guys realize that tree isn't inspired by fantasy? That tree actually exists in Thailand in the city of Ayuthaya, Thailand. I have been there before. I had to look it up, but it's in Wat Phra Mahathat. It's a famous tree that grew around the head of a buddha statue. I'd post a picture, but I don't know how. Here's a link to an image of it.
I'm think the focus is in the wrong place though. I can't even show off my current home much - look, it's plain, with white couches, and you can look at non-moving water. huh? am I supposed to use it as a place to private-chat?
The two fanciest things I have in there right now is a free, small model of a character, and a bubble machine I can put somewhere. that's not much.

Now, if only we could actually personalize our apartment(s) for free like we can in, say, Oblivion or ESPN NFL 2K5.
I'm not saying there should be NO premium items, but i'm not paying real money for virtual lamps. NOT EVER.
j.howlett @ May 8th 2009 7:56PM
free? i'll take it! it'll go nice with my summer home (which i also got free) and i'm thinking of getting the studio.
