LittleBigPlanet on Amazon UK for ten quid
Oh, look at us. Using slang terms for currency, just like the locals. If you're not too busy eatin' chips or watching EastEnders, you might want to hop on the compy and visit Amazon UK. See, they've got LittleBigPlanet on sale for £9.99 -- we're still computing the exchange rates, but we're pretty sure that equals about $1.25 in American dollar bills. If you can't bother to pick up the seventh best game to come out last year for that kind of chump change, then we're not sure we can continue this conflab.

Cor blimey! that's a cracking deal! ...guvner
BigC3 @ May 14th 2009 12:50PM
lol, nice article, but most brits don't say 'compy'. At least, not up in Scotland anyway :p. I'm sure I saw this for £7.50 somewhere else...
deathxrebirth @ May 14th 2009 12:52PM
That be damn cheap.
Isn't it crisps instead of chips? Unless you mean fries? Auwrite?
BigC3 @ May 14th 2009 1:42PM
Chips here are what you call fries, whereas crisps are Potato chips, ie. salt & vinegar etc :p
MatthewJ @ May 14th 2009 2:00PM
But you usually have salt and vinegar ON chips, as well as salt and vinegar flavoured crisps.
OH the confusion.
By the way, this offer has been on Play.com for like, months.
deathxrebirth @ May 14th 2009 3:15PM
I understand that. I lived in England for a couple years ;)
He said chips. As in, sitting around snacking on chips. While plausible, sittin around eatin crisps makes more sense :p
I have no idea why I am even writing all this out................................ -_-
Lars @ May 14th 2009 5:46PM
To add even more confusion, there's many places that offer "fish and chips" (chips meaning fries) here in the US, but they also have fries and chips (aka crisps) on the menu.
I like my fries/chips with salt and vinegar, but I never put vinegar on chips/crisps.
I'm confused about what "quid" is supposed to mean. Is it the same as pounds sterling? Is it like the words dollar and buck here?
deathxrebirth @ May 15th 2009 9:44PM
@lars
You just made my head hurt :p
Yeah, quid, as far as I know is slang for the pound.
y3k.nik @ May 14th 2009 12:54PM
9.99 GBP is $1.25? Thats news in itself!
Missing a number somewhere, are we?
SpiderMike @ May 14th 2009 1:30PM
No. lol.
£9.99 is roughly $15.
You wanna work on your maths, mate.
MatthewJ @ May 14th 2009 1:58PM
Sarcasm FAIL!
Jakko @ May 14th 2009 12:54PM
Phil's a bloody pisshead!!!
siupiu @ May 14th 2009 12:56PM
a lot of website in the UK selling below 10 pounds..
I got one for 8.91 pounds only...(brand new) from asda
anyway...
10 pounds = US$15.2
Lars @ May 14th 2009 5:48PM
That was a failed jab at how everything is always sold cheaper in the US.
Phil @ May 14th 2009 1:26PM
Is the PS3 region locked for games?
If not does anyone know if this would play just like the US version (for user content, outfits and the like?)
Billop @ May 14th 2009 1:28PM
No the games are not. Downloaded content is though
Phil @ May 14th 2009 1:58PM
Ok, so does that mean that if I use this in the states i'd only be able to get UK gear for Sackboy?
rohan @ May 14th 2009 2:44PM
it just means u will have to buy any and all LBP DLC on the EU store
mahouneko @ May 14th 2009 10:57PM
You can make an account on the other regions' stores in order to access their region's DLC.
Rufrancos @ May 14th 2009 1:30PM
Hah! I bought mine last week on amazon, the price was a low £8 poonds.
Bobulous @ May 14th 2009 1:39PM
What the holy fuck is a 'compy'? Outside of the novel Jurassic Park, I've never heard the term.
Fraser JK @ May 14th 2009 1:51PM
BRITISH ENGLISH (Read With Accent, Please):
Fuckin' hell mate! That conversion of yours is absolutely far fetched! You'd best shift that little decimal point of yours, one step to your right. Then, add your starting digit of 1.25 about three times, to the initial sum and there you go... that should get you a more concrete figure, sir.
AMERICAN ENGLISH (Read It However You Like, Bitch):
That ain't right Griff... it's about 15£!
NOTE: These statements normally take equal amounts of time to say/read, provided they are spoken by a native.

cheapest I found it was at ASDA online: £8.91
Jody Anthony (gamertag and psn: JodyAnthony) @ May 14th 2009 2:30PM
i dont get why it's so cheap there, but still $60 here in the US.
dgknight500 @ May 14th 2009 2:53PM
cause its not selling there?
Letters2Kay @ May 14th 2009 2:56PM
$37 on Amazon US. Great deal!
tobz1000 @ May 14th 2009 2:52PM
Hasn't it been £10 for ages? And £1 was $2 until recently.
Letters2Kay @ May 14th 2009 2:53PM
Amazon US is selling it for about $37, which is a great deal, also. Gamestop and Wal-Mart are still selling it for $60. I love Amazon. I try to order a lot of stuff from them, movies especially. They have awesome prices that are usually lower than in-store retail, I save on tax, and I get free shipping over $25. I usually have to wait a few extra days to get my stuff, so I still pony up the extra dough at Gamestop for new game releases that I really want to play on day one. I already put in my Wii preorders for the rest of the year (I can wait for Wii games) and Murumasa is already priced $5 cheaper than MSRP...
Orex @ May 14th 2009 4:22PM
That deal is crazy DuuuuuuDe, 10 Paypaz?
I may cop this If im not too busy eatin' corn dogs or watching baywatch
Is that how americans speak? im only being steriotypical of what i think an american person sounds like :) just like your doing to the british :), im from UK and i DEFO dont use the word Quid :) joke or no joke.
Orex @ May 14th 2009 4:22PM
just dont like the way every british post on here has to have some sort of irritating slang attached to it :)
benny boy @ May 14th 2009 4:26PM
Hear, Hear.
BTW, I'm English and I've never heard anyone say "compy" before.
McWilly @ May 14th 2009 6:11PM
It's actually everything european. Check the past articles on joystiq which involve anything european and you won't have to look far before you start seeing suttle stereotypes poorly executed in such a which only highlights the sites slight ignorant and xenophobic nature towards us "old landers" as they like say. Oh and joystiq spelt backwards is fucktbrits.
kennyken747 @ May 16th 2009 9:16PM
Except your stereotype fails hardly because Baywatch is a canceled show.
SKADOOSH.
SpiderMike @ May 14th 2009 4:50PM
Come on guys, it's Griffin McFailroy. His posts always have an air of desperation and failure about them.
It's to be expected!!
Ouija @ May 14th 2009 8:10PM
That post was crap. Bad use of english slang with very old news. Well done old chap.
jonathon @ May 14th 2009 11:05PM
they wont ship it 2 usa though
Jinsenken @ May 14th 2009 11:27PM
Even with my terrible math skills, I can still tell 9.99 euros is more than $1.25 >_> Might wanna check that.
SpiderMike @ May 15th 2009 3:02AM
I love the way he says "We're pretty sure" - like they all came to a joint decision that it equalled $1.25.
No Griff, you just cant type a meaningful topic any more. When are Joystiq simply gonna let the old ps3fanboy crew handle news like this. At least they provide it in a timely fashion.
