California taxpayers should be grateful. Schwarzenegger actually canceled plans to purchase a platinum bust in his likeness and just ordered one of these babies for the governor's office. Head past the break for the complete list of Blu-ray video releases for the week.

Fight Club was just announced on Blu-ray. Still no actual release date, but you can preorder on Amazon for $25. Just got JCVD last week, but won't be able to watch it until I'm off work on Wednesday. Looking forward to it...

Does Fight Club really NEED to be released on Blu-ray tho?? I mean it looks damn good upconverted on the PS3 as is...
James @ May 18th 2009 3:16PM
Watch enough Blu Rays (I have pretty much exlusively besides seasons of Arrested Development) and you'll see no DVD looks good upscaled.

EVERYTHING needs to be released on Blu-ray. Everything good, anyway...
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ May 18th 2009 5:29PM
nah everything doesnt....if it has a lot of colors and exspolsions sure go ahead.....but something like Sex & The City, or Seven Pounds, or Old Skool look just fine upconverted....especially with the DVD version being $10 cheaper....and this is coming from someone with over 1,000 DVDs and 130 Blu-ray movies
pacokorn77 @ May 23rd 2009 12:56PM
That's why I only buy action/drama films on blu-ray. Comedies can stay on DVD for all I care.
Letters2Kay @ May 26th 2009 5:21AM
That was initially my Blu-ray philosophy, but if a comedy has a hot female lead and/or some nudity- it's gotta' be in HD, too. I've since just resolved to get every film I buy on Blu-ray. It'll save me replacing it down the line...

Picking up Batman, A Bug's Life, T2 Complete Collector's Set, Valkyrie and The Machinist
Letters2Kay @ May 18th 2009 3:54PM
I heard so many people raving about The Machinist that I finally watched it a few months ago... I was thoroughly unimpressed. :(

Just some info on the T2 blu-ray releases, in case anyone needs clarification:
There are 3 different cuts of the T2 movie: theatrical (137 min.), director's cut/special edition (152 min.), and extreme edition/extended special edition (154 min.). James Cameron put back in several scenes he originally filmed that were cut from the theatrical version for the director's cut, except for two scenes. What two scenes? From wikipedia:"The first scene shows the T-1000's tactile approach to acquiring information about the physical world, 'scanning' John's room with its fingertips, and eventually finding a hidden shoebox containing pictures and tapes of Sarah, seen at the end of the first film. The second scene is an alternate ending set in 2027 with an aged Sarah Connor reflecting on how Judgment Day was averted." So those are the two minutes of footage you miss by getting the 152 min. version instead of the 154.
The Skynet Edition is the 152 min. version of the movie, with no apparent extra features. However, unlike the original blu-ray release, this one features a THX certified DTS-Master Audio 6.1 audio track (instead of DTS 5.1), and an "enhanced video transfer" that supposedly cuts down on the washed-out look of the original blu-ray release.
The Endoskull Limited edition contains the Skynet Edition blu-ray, the Ultimate Edition and Extreme Edition DVDs (note that I said DVDs, not high-def blu-rays), a digital copy of the film, and of course the endoskull bust. The DVDs contain those extra two scenes missing from the 152 min. version as easter eggs (but again, not in high-def), as well as a number of extra features (behind-the-scenes videos and the like).
Personally, since I already own the Extreme Edition DVD, I don't really see a terminator bust (which is probably made of cheap plastic) as worth $100+. I'm just going with the Skynet Edition.

I WANT that Terminator collection!!!
Wonderflex @ May 18th 2009 7:24PM
Why would they put out a terminator collection when there is still a terminator movie to come?
joshua_w @ May 18th 2009 11:50PM
It's a collection, but only of various versions and extras pertaining to the second movie. It's not all three movies, just the three versions of the second movie, plus some nice extras.
I already have T2 on Blu-ray, but I think I'll go ahead and buy the new Skynet edition. I really want the Terminator bust, but I think I'll just wait until I can find it somewhere for much cheaper.
camronearl @ May 19th 2009 7:55PM
thanks for the info. That makes a whole lot more sense now. I hope they do end up making some sort of ultimate collection though. That's pretty much why I've been holding off on getting any of the Harry Potter movies.
