When is this scheduled for release anyway? Do we have a specific month at least?
samgt @ May 19th 2009 6:08PM
wow that must be fun to play. I never take this game seriously, but now I really do. I think I will get this game.

I'm sure that those of you who are excited about this game will vote my comment down, but I've been in the beta since it started and I have to say my initial excitement for the game has really, really died out. The good things first: the style and art of the game is great, and in concept, it should be a lot of fun. You can constantly make little goals for yourself and press towards them--I like trying to upgrade everything to help my team out. But the problem is the gameplay. People don't work well together but like to do their own thing, and the only solution to this would be a robust online chat mode (or some other way of coordinating). The problem with the game is the assumption that people will work together--they don't, and honestly, it's nearly impossible to steal the princess without teamwork. About the only teamwork there is occurs when people are trying to steal your team's princess, and everyone gangs up on them. That's great for the defenders, but it's so difficult to get people to work together offensively.
The single player is pointless, because the AI does not help, and as I mentioned, unless you have a group helping, there's almost no chance of rescuing your princess. The existing build allows you to only enlist the help of 3 other AI partners, and they don't do the best job as it is.
Maybe some groups/clans will form that will work together effectively, but in its current form, this game does not have lasting value beyond the initial pleasure of seeing it in action. It really is beautiful, from the artwork to the animation. I just hope they come up with more game modes and maps that involve more interesting twists, and of course, a solid method of coordinating with online friends (and offline AI.)

Reposting, first time didn't seem to work:

I havent looked forward to a game so much in years, Id forsake every other release on the horizon for this game.
This generation of games are so generic and boring, totally lacking in plain old fun, I expect this to be different.
Paddy @ May 20th 2009 8:05AM
"yeah i'm buying a PS3 solely for this game"
