From Software's PS2 ports getting new features

Remember the PS2 ports that From Software has brewing for the PSP? According to Siliconera, the games will be more than simple ports and will include some new features. First, the Armored Core ports will receive 16:9 widescreen support, improved menus, ad-hoc wireless play and the ability to transfer save data from one game to another.

Additionally, Tenchu 3 Portable will be widescreen enhanced and will also include story missions taken from the Xbox version. Tenchu Korenai Portable will get a "renewal," whatever that means. Meanwhile Fu-un Shinsengumi: Bakumatsu-den Portable will receive new, unspecified elements.

Frankly, it's nice to see From putting some extra effort into these ports, especially the transferable saves in Armored Core.

I am so tired of PS2 ports. It's why hardly anyone buys crap for the PSP now.

So tired of PS2 ports. You might as well buy the console version since almost all these games are a few dollars now.

I totally would, except I'm unsure how long my PSP battery will power my PS2 and LCD monitor... The duct tape that holds it all together is starting to need to be replaced, too. I'm starting to think the whole "taking my PS2 everywhere in my backpack" idea wasn't such a great one, after all.

Nevermind Mr. Sarcasm there, the important thing is that they are porting PS2 games from a region locked system (PS2) to a region-free system (PSP). I get to enjoy tons of games I missed on the PS2 because they didn't bother to localize them.

On a side note, my PS2 is going to die any day now, and I'd love to have all the majority of my PS2 collection ported to the PSP instead of the slim melty-laser things they expect you to buy now.

Also a renewal of Tenchu Kurenai (aka Fatal Shadows)!?! I really really love that game even though critics hated it.

They are touting 16:9 widescreen support for the PSP, why?
Because they failed to implement it on the PS2 version?
- We're really sorry that we forgot 16:9 support for the PS2 version of the game but if you buy the game again for the PSP it will be in.
(Thank goodness that the PSP version isn't in 4:3)
