Noby Noby Boy cheated to reach Mars
Fans of Noby Noby Boy have finally arrived at the next destination in their voyage across outer space, having only spent three months stretching to get there. Three months may sound like a long time to get to the next level of any game, but for anyone familiar with the oddity known as Noby Noby Boy, this was way (and we mean way) ahead of schedule.
When the mathematicians amongst the game's fans first brought out the calculators, it was determined that it would actually take several years before Mars would be reached. Apparently, Namco multiplied player's submitted lengths by 765, speeding up the process. Essentially, it cheated, though undeniably in a good way.
This, however, raises a good point: the next few planets are going to have an even greater distance between them. Does this mean we're going to see more multipliers? Can we expect to see a "double XP weekend," sort of deal? Or should Namco rearrange its measuring system or modify the gameplay?

namco folded space to reach mars
Lambrick @ May 26th 2009 8:43PM
this makes more sense than what really did happen.

Namco's equation for space travel=the fewer people playing, the faster "Girl" will stretch through space.

this game is weird, more like Doby Doby boy.

Amazing. And still they say stoners never accomplish anything?!

I didn't realize they were doing the multiplier week thing until a few hours after it was over. :P What a shame.
At least I get to enjoy Mars. It's pretty weird.

He should just unlock all of the planets now and get the suspense out of the way.

If you really don't know that, maybe you should go back to elementary school. Or learn to use google.

jupiter here we come! but this game needs more trophies. It doesn't take much to get 100%.
jadewarlord @ May 27th 2009 7:59AM
Bought it played it spent 2 hours wondering around not knowing what the suck I was doing got really confused never played it again.
Gus @ May 27th 2009 10:56AM
I haven't played since I got all trophies- I'll be sure to check out Mars tonight. Thanks for the update.
They should have TONS of stuff on Mars that makes it really easy to gain length. And it would be cool too if they did double length weekends or something like that.
343 Guilty Fart @ May 27th 2009 12:29PM
The last few times I played the fairy told me my reported length would be tripled.

the ranking system is now effed. i am a huge fan of this game (i even won the tshirt contest!). but i was all about the ranking. i was in the top 700 and was thrilled. but then they started multiplying and it means nothing now. i think i'm in the top 3500 now. they should have just implemented one multiplier of fifty or so and gave us a few more months to get to mars. there was no need to rush it like this and void the ranks.
cochese @ May 28th 2009 12:32AM
I was number 1 for a couple months. I'm now number three and I'm not that upset about it.
You have to understand that bonus weeks are the only way to keep this going. There are less than 1,000 active players and sales are sort of limping along at this point. Unless Keita manages to generate sales somehow (presumably with more interest from the new planets...) then there's virtually no chance of him continuing to update the game OR have any real freedom with his next title.
I'd rather lose ranks and get more planets than hold onto a single rank forever and ever.

cochese, what's up? i've seen you at the front of girl. i understand why they did it. and i'm glad you're more rational about it than me. i wasn't even that close to the front! it's still a fun, unique game. i was just bummed about my rank becoming very hard to maintain.
