Killzone 2 patch improves game based on player feedback

Killzone 2 is set to be patched tomorrow -- May 28 -- with a collection of updates based on direct feedback from gamers. Version 1.27 will add quite a few new features, with the highlights including a new party system, Skirmish mode tweaks, new control options and overall improvements to the balance of the game.
The party system will allow you to join your friends from within the Join Game menu, as seen above, and factions and squads are now persistent throughout multiple games. The Skirmish mode tweaks include the unlocking of all badges within the mode, allowing everyone to "experience the full range of weapons and abilities available in the Warzone." Also, a new High Precision control method makes the analogue sticks far more sensitive to small movements.
The inclusion of a party system will no doubt delight many of you. It's nice to see Guerrilla continuing to shower us with new content and features. This patch should tide us over until the Flash and Thunder pack comes out next month.

Adding high precision mode as an option should shut up whiners on both sides of the argument, cool.
Also, about damn time we got a party system. Thanks, GG

i kind of like jumping around from faction to faction at random between matches, keeps it fresh. it will come in handy for when i get in a good group.

would be NICE if they made it so that after Being Commander & Cheif they give you the option to use secondary abilities with the soldier....

How bout those sentries?

"High Precision control method" .. I'd like to try this, it sounds like a better control method, so why not make it default?
advil @ May 27th 2009 3:18PM
That is exactly what they're doing. The Playstation Blog article mentions that they are defaulting it for new players, but leaving it up to current players to turn it on as not to mess with the control that they're used to.
So... stop complaining and turn it on if you want to, and voila, it's the default.

This is how dev's SHOULD act. Don't get me wrong others do good, but this. This is commitment.

I really want on/offline co-op. Or; would it be that hard to add split screen to skirmish mode? The precision control is great but not really what i would've wanted from a patch
advil @ May 27th 2009 3:20PM
Hopefully the High Precision Control option lessens the "dead space". I wish I had more time to play this game (or any game for that matter!), but I'm slowing levelling up and enjoying it.
Mike @ May 27th 2009 3:53PM
Well, we’ve decided to unlock all the badges in Skirmish Mode.
Thank you so much GG...,this is what I wanted from the day one purchase of this game......Ohhh Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sayed @ May 28th 2009 12:53PM
FINALLY!!!!
I have a limited amount download every month ( only 4 GB WTF, it really sucks!!) but now i can "experience the full range of weapons and abilities available in the Warzone."
REJOICE!!!!!!!
p.s. (i love you guerrilla ;) )
drdre74 @ May 27th 2009 4:00PM
wish they added a option to invite your friends in while you are playing a game if there is room? If I'm playing a game and i see a friend log in i want to be able to send him a quick invite to join just in case he doesnt look to see if I'm on playing or not.
Kruegmeister @ May 27th 2009 4:37PM
All good Stuff, but it should have been there from the Start.
It makes you wonder if Developers Have anyone on the Team who Actually Tried out the Competition's Game.
If you want to make the Best Game you should have someone who Plays Games... Then you would have already known that Party Systems, Customizable Controls, etc should be a Standard Feature Set.
dgknight500 @ May 27th 2009 4:43PM
STFU! At least they are committed to continue to support this game and are putting out patches at a good speed. A lot of other devs dont even do that much, even when their games have game-breaking glitches (Far Cry 2)
jalannom @ May 27th 2009 4:46PM
Agreed. Most of my friends refused to buy the game because they didnt like those "standard features set". They were very excited about the game but simply refused to buy it after trying out my copy. To be honest, I stopped playing a while ago as well. I might give this a try to see if it REALLY changed anything. I really wished they had these options from the start.. now, i think it's a bit late and all the hype has faded away for my friends.
James @ May 27th 2009 5:09PM
And it's not even (arguably) smaller games like Far Cry 2, look at Call of Duty 4. The lobby system is totally broke and they never did a thing to fix it. What FPS do you know that cuts off in a 3-3 sudden death Search and Destroy because the host died and left?
jalannom @ May 27th 2009 7:03PM
haha thats true. I love COD4, but their lobby system is horrible. Activision just made too much money to worry about those things I guess. I just hope they do a better job at MW:2. It's great taht GG is fixing these problems and actually listen to the gamers. But, they were a little stubborn in the beginning saying the gameplay is fine as it is.
Pdriver @ May 27th 2009 4:54PM
OMGWTFPARTYSYSTEM?! Finally.

Is the patch out yet?
