Killzone 2 patch delayed
Oh, Sony. You were on such a roll! We haven't had to write a PlayStation post with the word "delayed" in the headline for quite a while now. Nevermind, it's happened now. The Killzone 2 patch that we discussed yesterday, which will add a party system, Skirmish Mode tweaks and a new "High Precision" control system has been delayed, according to a tweet from the official Guerrilla Games twitter account.
There's no word on when it'll be out, but it won't be this week. In another tweet, Guerrilla Games says that it doesn't have an exact date, but it "shouldn't be much longer." Sometime next week then, hopefully.

I just need one more ribbon for my air support medal, guess I'll have to wait a bit more. :(

"Version 1.27 will add quite a few new features, with the highlights including a new party system, Skirmish mode tweaks, new control options and overall improvements to the balance of the game."
DeathroW @ May 29th 2009 3:13PM
Yeah.. but thats from Jem.. the only changes i see in the official announcement is "improvements" to the "join friend" system.
That is not a party system.
Long Duck Dong @ May 29th 2009 3:29PM
Its not technically a party system. It just puts you and your friend(s) into the same squad which remains persistent.
Liam @ May 29th 2009 3:37PM
It's party-esque. You join your friends squad and it is persistent over the course of your playing. I really hate how when you join a friends game, you're always on opposite teams. Like last night, if i was Hgh my friend was ISA. It really sucked

This video should explain everything that is in Patch1.27: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRzxcdwlSd4

Well this works out for me, haven't had internet for like a month now (my htc touch pro internet is only for my phone sadly) but I will get it back next week, so this gives me time to get my untouchable trophy, kill 5 people with a grenade trophy, and the leachpod trophy so then I can get my platium trophy by playing online and getting two more valor trophy. Oh wait, I got the uncharted beta to play dammit :(
megapenguinx @ May 29th 2009 4:54PM
Sad Pandas, I was looking forward to try out the new controls.
Levi @ May 29th 2009 5:58PM
Guarantee the high precision mode won't improve the input delay. It'll probablu tighten up the analogue mapping, which will make the controls more responsive after the 120ms it takes for the movements to register. Unless they finally broke down and turned vsync off with high precision mode.
I stopped once I hit General. Just never got used to it enough. When melee is an exercise in frustration after over 20 hours of multiplayer and two and a half runs through the campaign, something just ain't right.
It says great things about GG when they can make a game that's so good that someone like me who is completely frustrated with the controls can still put in over 30 hours of enjoyment into the game though.

i completely agree. I was in the same position as well. 20 hours of gameplay and just too frustrated to enjoy it. I really wanted it to be good too.
handlas @ May 29th 2009 9:36PM
hmm I got use to the controls just fine. The game is absolutely beautiful, no doubt about it.
I just don't know. Something is missing. I haven't played in over a month. Just something about it isn't fun, IMO. I love FPSes too. Not sure. I expected to highly enjoy the game and be playing it at least occasionally for a very very long time. Yet I'm not.
Once the patch is released I'll be curious to try out the "high precision" controls. Dunno, maybe that will get me back into playing even tho the controls never bothered me too much. I'd love to try the new maps as well but I've decided awhile back to not allow myself to be ripped off anymore with DLC. And I felt 6 bucks for 2 maps that were almost straight out of singleplayer was a rip-off. Then on top of that they are releasing 2 more maps only a month later for probably 6 bucks again. I feel that is ridiculous and now I'm kinda glad I'm not supporting their DLC with my money. Just too bad other people do.
Still, not as bad as say...Capcom. With their stupid costume DLC and such. Alright, got a bit off topic there.
Levi @ May 29th 2009 9:46PM
Well, I don't really see the fuss with DLC, but I understand where you're coming from. It's probably just because I have a lit of expendable income XD
The controls weren't the only reason I stopped. I do think there are some balance and map issues. It's still a good game an I'm still curious to check outthe patch.
Twinturbo120 @ May 29th 2009 7:06PM
It's not really a party system like COD. It's just so when you go to "join game" and see your friends list you can join them and be on the same faction there on and play with them. Which was something you couldn't do.
j.howlett @ May 30th 2009 1:56AM
you can switch factions
Twinturbo120 @ May 30th 2009 1:29PM
@j.howlett
Actually in some games you can't.

They are Probably re-thinking the Removal of Spawn Invincibility.
Currently Spawn Invincibility gives attackers an UnFair advantage in Search & Destroy.
However many of us have let them know the Problem that Removing Spawn Invincibility brings. There will be Tools who will see the Green or Red Smoke from a Spawn Grenade and Run to it to Gun Down Spawners like the Gutless Spawn Camper that they are.
I believe to remove the Unfair Advantage to the Spawner they should just make it so the Spawners cannot shoot or throw grenades during their 3 second invincibility. This still allows them to get their bearings and get to a safe spot from Spawn Campers, while not allowing them the unfair advantage they currently enjoy.
