Final Fantasy VII available to download in Europe today
Fear not Europeans, Square Enix and Sony haven't let you down. Eurogamer reports that Final Fantasy VII will be available on the European store later today, just two days after its release in America. There's no indication of a price, or of why SCEE didn't take advantage of their fancy new blog to let us know that it was coming, but we won't hold that against them. You'll be able to introduce your PS3 and PSP to a classic RPG of yesteryear, today. They won't know what hit them.
This bodes well for future high-profile PS1 title releases to take place simultaneously in Europe and the US. We didn't expect this to happen at all, but we hope SCEE keeps it up.

Not it Europe, but good news for them! They finally get a good game at the same time as the rest of the world
Kyle Nichol @ Jun 4th 2009 6:11AM
That's great news to hear, I'll be buying it as soon as I get back home from work. I hope this trend continues when other games like Metal Gear Solid are released too, though it sucks that Capcom needs to go through extra loopholes to get Resident Evil: Directors Cut released here.
Livi70590 @ Jun 4th 2009 6:23AM
Snooze, where are all the really good Playstation games: Those that stand the test of time?
Adam Owen @ Jun 4th 2009 6:27AM
I never got to play FFVII, what with my family bein an N64 household, so this is great news :).
doc j @ Jun 4th 2009 6:33AM
Final Fantasy VII, you say?
Hm. Never heard of it.
Mruzuki @ Jun 4th 2009 7:02AM
Sir, assuming you are serious, you have missed out on one of the greatest RPG's in the history of RPG gaming!
Guy @ Jun 4th 2009 7:07AM
Excellent!
Now give us Final fantasy 8 and 9 and i will forgive SCEE for all its troubles
Seriously Please give us FF 8 and 9!
Kyle Nichol @ Jun 4th 2009 8:16AM
Give them time, I'd expect them to be released before or as part of the PSP Go launch.
Popfrogs @ Jun 4th 2009 9:12AM
It's probably coming. Jack Tretton kept repeating 364 games (or so) on Playstation platforms this year (which to those guys means fiscal year, extending to March of '10). So, a good portion of those games must be PS1 re-releases.

I have 7 n 9 on physical disc still. So I want 8 to fill in the gap.
Not too bad if they can keep it at £6 either.
smi04 @ Jun 4th 2009 7:06AM
Still waiting on No gravity here in Aus =/
Kyle @ Jun 4th 2009 7:03AM
FF7 is $9.99 in US, so figure out the Euro conversion :D
Nook @ Jun 4th 2009 7:26AM
It's also 1.3GB in size, no conversion should be required for that info.
Draco @ Jun 4th 2009 12:50PM
tell me about it, it wont fit on my Memory stick :(
I'll have to buy a new stick now and the 4GB are 40$ :( even at newegg
maybe I'll get a go and this at the same time. until then I'll have to play on the PS3 :(

I think it's cheaper to buy the game from the US store, even with taxes.
thehitcher13 @ Jun 4th 2009 7:05AM
That's great news, finally some European love.
Nathan-DTS @ Jun 4th 2009 11:50AM
Eels.
karlwulfekote @ Jun 4th 2009 7:48AM
I'm still pissed at Square for that stunt they pulled with FF XIV. It's like XII all over again...
Anyway downloaded VII. I'm about 5 hours in or so. Right after the destruction of sector 7. The game has held up really well. Looks just as good as anything on the DS.
wicko @ Jun 4th 2009 8:39AM
Buy this game, even if you already own it! Who knows, it may convince them to do a remake if enough people show they're willing to buy the classic?
steven(PSN: small_hands) @ Jun 4th 2009 9:53AM
Great! I guess I'll spend a good portion of today refreshing the store in anticipation! Hopefully 8 and 9 will follow too but not until I'm done with 7!
Tsubasa @ Jun 4th 2009 11:00AM
If 9 does come out, hopefully it does, I would get it in an instant. 7 is being milked too much and it's not that great of a game or story.
muir666 @ Jun 4th 2009 11:10AM
It's today and im in europe. where is my game!!! :(
PitaMan @ Jun 4th 2009 11:33AM
Hmm...I might get this.
By the way, was Kingdom Hearts: Birth by sleep shown at e3 at all?? I haven't heard or seen a thing.
Lookhappy @ Jun 4th 2009 11:33AM
Yes! Another DO want! This is a good day :)
rjhubs @ Jun 4th 2009 1:12PM
Has anyone purchased this yet? I own the CD version of FFVII but would buy the PSN version if the switched the button map to have X as accept (the disc version has O mapped to accept and X to cancel which is opposite of almost every other game and its confusing)
Rachael @ Jun 5th 2009 11:14AM
You can switch the x and o buttons in the options/config menu (on the American download version anyway).
velocitySTRIKE @ Jun 4th 2009 11:52AM
Erm, yay!
I've had £15 in my store account just waiting to be spent for about 6 months now...a shame it's not gonna be £3.49 like a few of the other PS1 games.
Patrick @ Jun 4th 2009 1:22PM
ZOMG!
Providing it's not ridiculously overpriced, i'll get it. I'd like Resi 1 sometime as well...
muir @ Jun 4th 2009 2:09PM
It's up now at £7.99
muir666 @ Jun 4th 2009 2:11PM
It's up now for £7.99 :)
Goffee @ Jun 4th 2009 3:32PM

not better than 8 =P
E @ Jun 4th 2009 4:36PM
Why is SCE always screwing Europe? I'd hate to use PSN over there...well I guess I wouldn't hate it 'cause there's barely anything to dislike seeing as how SCEE never gives that region's PSN users anything hardly.
