ESRB rates Final Fantasy Tactics for PS3 and PSP
Square-Enix' E3 gift of a Final Fantasy VII PSN release was gratefully received, but if you'd asked us what PS1 games we'd like to see next from the publishers, Final Fantasy Tactics would be near the bottom of our list. Somewhere under Chocobo Racing and Ehrgeiz, to be exact. It's not that we dislike the game -- far from it -- it's just that we've played it recently on our PSPs with improved cutscenes and vastly superior translation. The idea of releasing the old "Spoony Bard" version on PSN instead of Final Fantasy VIII or IX doesn't exactly thrill us.But it looks like that's what will be happening as the ESRB has rated the game for both the PS3 and PSP, meaning we could see it pop on the American PSN store at any moment. As for Europe? Don't bet on it -- the original PS1 version never made it across the Atlantic, so we don't expect the digital version to do so either.

cool will have to try this out. couldn't get into the remake everyone talked like it was a shakes spear play and the horrible loads when u performed certain attacks. how could they have realsed that with those unacceptable slow downs.
zaphodb42 @ Jun 15th 2009 3:45PM
I actually liked both Ehrgeiz and Chocobo Racing... I really hope they release FFIX for the PSN though
Jem @ Jun 15th 2009 4:05PM
For the record, I LOVED Chocobo Racing. I would love to see it released on PSN -- maybe alongside Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 2? Who am I kidding, I'll take anything with Chocobos in.
megapenguinx @ Jun 15th 2009 7:17PM
I would like that too since I never got to play it. That and 8
Kornkid @ Jun 15th 2009 3:51PM
Sweet! and now that PSN Cards are finally in Canada I'll be able to get this aas well as FFVII!
Hopefully they release FFVIII & FFIX too. =D
pspfanboi @ Jun 15th 2009 3:56PM
whats next? FFVI??? cmon, really.
im looking forward to FF8 + 9
Phizzy @ Jun 15th 2009 11:49PM
FFVI is a brilliant game.
tkAshur @ Jun 16th 2009 11:41PM
Second. I see absolutely nothing wrong if the best FF in the series was released on PSN. As long as the psone loading times don't come with.
Covarr @ Jun 15th 2009 4:10PM
Yeah, I don't have FF8/9, but I do have 7.
Then again, you can still get new disc copies of VIII and IX from Amazon for just $20USD.
ocdog45 @ Jun 15th 2009 4:11PM
i swear, they keep doing this, and i will get that new psp go adn DL all these games. i travel alot and work is a drag.
obscuremst3kref @ Jun 15th 2009 4:32PM
Best news I've heard lately re: gaming. I absolutely adore Tactics and I don't have a PSP or even a GBA so I can't even play Tactics Advance. This is awesome news.
jason @ Jun 15th 2009 5:12PM
you can play it on the ps3 as well as PSP Noob ...if oy dont know that then just give up on gaming
megapenguinx @ Jun 15th 2009 7:18PM
@Jason, he meant he didn't have a PSP to play the re-release on the handheld. Don't be a dick.
But yeah, I'm in the same boat as you and can't wait for it to come out!
RagingStormX @ Jun 15th 2009 4:33PM
Well I would buy FFT a second time before I bought FFVII again.....but there is nothing more for me to do in FFT...thats one of the few RPG's that I have played more than three times from start to finish. Good stuff though.... I hope Xeno Gears and Valkyrie Profile are on their way to PSN. One would think that The Legend of Dragoon would be on PSN by now :/
@ Bass1X - Depending on your stats spells and summons took a set amount of turns before it is excecuted. Other than that....there wasn't any loading (framerate wise) to perform attacks and cast spells.
Ari @ Jun 16th 2009 11:48PM
I think he was refering to the horrible framerate drop during pretty much every spell/skill animation in the PSP release. People who didn't play the PS1 version don't seem to notice/mind.
LordAbsu @ Jun 15th 2009 5:11PM
/will kill for "legit" versions of FF's 8 and 9 on his PS3 and PSP.....
Superstar @ Jun 15th 2009 5:22PM
I would buy this even though I already have WOtL. Final fantasy Tactics is one of my favorite games ever.
zerodis2001 @ Jun 15th 2009 5:30PM

This is a good trend that I'm seeing. A year ago I would have thought games like FF7 or Tactics would have never seen the light of day on the PSN. Now it looks like all of the biggest PS1 blockbusters will eventually be available. Now I would like to see PS1 classics released that were great games, but not really best sellers. Tomba is a game that comes to mind.
karlwulfekote @ Jun 15th 2009 7:15PM
I noticed that there are currently 3 PS One titles in the top 10 downloads on PSN. Hopefuly that is a sign there will be more on the way.
I would love to see:
Final Fantasy Anthology (FF V & VI)
Final Fantasy Chronicles (Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV)
Final Fantasy Origins (FF I & II)
Also FF VIII & IX
Nobledevil @ Jun 15th 2009 10:42PM
The PSN version will be $10, while the UMD remake is a $20 Greatest Hits game with added content, multiplayer (of a sort), and gorgeous cut-scenes.
Seems like the PSP remake is far superior, except the PSN version is also PS3 compatible, meaning it's better for those that don't have the handheld.
Hey, at least this choice is between "awesome" and "also awesome."
HardBoiled2009 @ Jun 15th 2009 11:47PM
I have the disc copy of this game . very cool game only thing i wanna see for a PS One classic to release is the Rare Game. Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together it's like FF:Tactics BUT different in ways. i miss the days where i can persuade enemies to join your army and play with griffons and other creatures .. the eagleman ( i think his name was Cantopus ) it's a great game with a great story ... Atlus brought the game to the US with soo many copies and the game goes over $100 online also the compnay who originally made the game is now owned by..... Squaresuck now i'l call then Squaresoft again ONLY for the fact they release Tactics Ogre as a PS1 Classic, i would so buy that in a hurry
devekid @ Jun 16th 2009 5:24PM
Dude...what are they talking about, FFT is the best ff there is!!! If they had online battles that would be so sweet
tkAshur @ Jun 16th 2009 11:49PM
Ugh, just re-release FFTactics: WOTL with all the bugs fixed(top of the list, load times during ANY action). Seriously, the load times made me put it down after awhile, but I did get really far because the remake was just so AMAZING!
But I will so agree with everyone else, that 8 and 9 NEED to come out. I have found FF more enjoyable on the road, where I can level cram anytime I want.
emirabal @ Jun 17th 2009 8:09PM
Just ughhh, plain old ughhh

crazyalien1116 @ Aug 3rd 2009 6:16PM
