Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 box art revealed, Only For PlayStation
My, my how things have changed. The former Xbox 360-exclusive Ninja Gaiden 2 is now the PS3-exclusive Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. Is this the first game that's been able to wear the "Only On" stickers for both the PS3 and 360? Perhaps. While Sigma 2 may be an enhanced port of the original Ninja Gaiden 2, it features a number of new features that are, as the box says, "only on PlayStation."
Most exciting of the new features are the new playable characters: Ninja Gaiden's Rachel, Dead or Alive's Ayane, and Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword's Momiji. The PS3 version will also feature a new online co-op mode not found in the original that lets you and a friend take on ten different stages. Finally, the game is touting "variable AI," which allows "the gameplay [to differ] each time you appear in a level as enemies engage in a variety of different actions as they assess the situation." Whatever that means.

shouldn't there be a "PlayStation Network" next to "Only on PlayStation"?
ohyeahcola @ Jun 26th 2009 3:08PM

sony boy @ Jun 26th 2009 3:23PM
since it has a different title, it can say only on playstation.
Mazrael @ Jun 26th 2009 3:42PM
yeah, the 360 gets Itagaki's work..The Sigma games are by his (ex-)right hand man, where Itagaki had no say at all in either of them. Sound like it'd be pretty easy in co op - unless they double up the enemies 'at a time', but then the engine wasn't all that stable.. 'the staircase' was hilarious, as you slayed the enemies, the framerate increased..
Samuraidino @ Jun 26th 2009 5:20PM
Theyr actually using an upgraded version of the engine from the first Sigma game with elements from NG2s brought over into it...and that staircacase scene although cool really should have just been cut out,as it was obvious that the 360 couldnt handle it.
Mazrael @ Jun 26th 2009 8:04PM
The problem was down to the engine, that couldn't handle that much going on. anything after about 12 enemies & it struggled. games like L4D can throw out 50 enemies, and it's engine doesn't even whimper.. Which is probably Why they'll be using the original Sigma engine, and building up from there, instead of just using the NG2 engine
Phizzy @ Jun 27th 2009 10:12AM
L4D is set to only have 30 active enemies at any one time by default. A default that can't be changed on 360.

Day one!
Michael @ Jun 26th 2009 4:06PM
they're not technically the same games. sigma 2 has so many new features then ng2 so it deserves "only on playstation". i don't know why you would try to spin it as a "port".
Hydrophobicfish @ Jun 26th 2009 5:41PM
Enhanced port is still a port. As much a Sony fanboy as I could be labeled, NGS2 is still an enhanced port, and slapping the "only on" label onto it is misleading, and is an issue of spin.
shadowhowl1900 @ Jun 26th 2009 4:52PM
if only the game's story would be as good as the cover
quicksilvervfr @ Jun 26th 2009 5:27PM
Now if only NG2 didn't blow and suck at the same time... the first was hard but fun, the second just escalated into those stupid 'how do I beat this invincible boss' BS.
Morgoth @ Jun 26th 2009 5:30PM
I saw a video time ago.. and.. there will be NO BLOOD, just some... "magic" when you cut your enemys in 2 and all that...IS THIS TRUE??? cuz.. its gonna suck...
SonyHomie (PSN: superballa123) @ Jun 26th 2009 9:32PM
No, there is blood in the PS3 version it's just been reduced from what they had in the 360 version. This is still a Day 1 purchase for me.

I still wanna know how the whole execution moves will be worked around. That was a big gameplay mechanic.
RagingStormX @ Jun 26th 2009 8:37PM
I wonder what the trophies will be like for this....as it is a game I look forward to getting the platinum trophy for.

Is this the first 3rd party published game to carry the 'Only on PlayStation' sticker? I think it is.
SonyHomie (PSN: superballa123) @ Jun 27th 2009 4:24PM
Does it matter? As long as the game is good I don't care what party it's from.
{@} @ Jun 28th 2009 11:57PM
Huh? That's the whole point of the post, that the game is "Only on PlayStation." I asked a question directly related to the post. What a retarded response.
SonyHomie (PSN: superballa123) @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:10AM
what an a$$hole
Josh @ Jun 27th 2009 11:09PM
360 box art is much much better.
Michael @ Jun 28th 2009 4:08PM
does it matter? i sure won't be looking at the box art when i'm playing the game.
