'Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time' pre-order bonuses vary per retailer
The pre-order incentives for Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time are now ready for perusal on the PlayStation Blog. The bonuses reportedly start today at Amazon.com, Best Buy, Game Crazy, GameStop and other participating retailers. Each retailer has its own thing going, so explore before you plunk down the pre-order cash. Check out the four different programs after the break.
- Discovery Package – Explore the Insomniac Moon, a level resembling the Insomniac Games' offices.
- Power Package – Includes a skin for a weapon, along with starting the game beefed up on extra hit points and using the Cryo Mine Glove (it freezes baddies).
- Bolt Package – Start the game with the "Bolt Magnetizer" and "Box Basher." You'll also start the game with 5,000 bolts.
- Space Package – A hot rod skin for Ratchet's ship, the Aphelion. Also, the player will start the game with 5,000 bolts as well as a Ratchet & Clank PlayStation Home Avatar Skin.

Gamestop is the one with the extra level preorder bonus, so that's where I'll be preordering.
Whoever has the 5000 bolt one got shafted, cause that's a horrible bonus.

That "Space Package" should be Amazon.com....too bad they have the Bolt Package....I always order from them for the Home Skins....now I need to find out who has that one....

Expecting DLC 3 months after release. Each package for $5 or some such.
xoonaka @ Jul 2nd 2009 3:51PM
Supposedly the stuff is all in the game anyway, you just have to go through normal "unlocking" procedure. See PSBlog and all the Red Responses.
Either way, I still hate this multiple pre-order business.
mgsrocks1 @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:13PM
Insomniac always releases them as free DLC later on. You can unlock all the stuff anyways in game but you have to put a lot of work into it. The pre-order bonuses is a way to unlock them from the beginning.
arrness @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:02PM
definitely the discovery package.
it'll probably all become dlc at some point

I really dislike this whole variance between retailers on pre-order bonuses. If I'm going to preorder, I feel that I should have felt rewarded for dropping down cash early. This would just make me feel like i had missed out on less.
Nude Love @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:36PM
Preorder 4 of them, and Return 3 of them. =D
Ashitaka @ Jul 2nd 2009 5:04PM
Oh man, Insomniac (or Sony, dunno) effed this up so much!
There are about 200 comments from people complaining on the PlayStation Blog, me included.
Sayed @ Jul 2nd 2009 5:48PM
Why are you complaining, I'm not being sarcastic I'm just interested to know why you no likey?
xoonaka @ Jul 2nd 2009 6:17PM
If his opinion is anything like mine, it's probably because he doesn't want to feel like he's missing out on content or go through the trouble of pre-ordering and canceling at these places just to get the content. It's just a hassle, especially for the fans who want it all.
Most of the other folks on the blog seem to feel the same way. Insomniac responded, basically saying "Well, don't worry, we thought about you guys!", meaning absolutely nothing really. Just a PR way of saying "Too bad, we're doing it this way. Get used to it".
AwesomePossum @ Jul 2nd 2009 5:35PM
Hot damn all of them are so tempting. Space package is still probably the best beacause its a bitch to unlock in all the R&C.
TVGenius @ Jul 2nd 2009 6:15PM
Or just buy it somewhere it day it comes out, then Google and find the four codes for each pack. Worked great for all the sponsor cars in Burnout.
Jacksons @ Jul 2nd 2009 6:29PM
As a huge fan of the franchise that always unlocks everything, this is quite disappointing. I LIKE hunting for skill points and unlocking all the extras. Give me something I can touch!

"How do you know that we would charge for this content, and how do you know that it’s not unlockable in other ways on the disc?
Keep in mind this is still INSOMNIAC. We’re still going to do you guys right - but we also have to work with our retail partners who are making bigger pushes for in-game content as pre-order bonuses."

So, you just get these things in the beginning, but they can be unlocked other ways in the game perhaps? That doesn't seem so bad.

"Many of the items (like the Bolt Basher and Box Magnetizer) will be available through the course of the game as you play.
And just like the Grim and Malikov pre-order skins we eventually released to the community for free, I’m confident that if you are crazy and want ALL of the content, you’ll eventually get it."
More than just "too bad" :/ If you could actually read, you'd realize that everyone who buys the game will eventually get most of these things anyways (either by unlocking them in the game or Insomniac releasing it as free DLC just like the pre-order skins for Resistance 2).
Everyone who is complaining needs to chill the f**k out. And for those who want everything as soon as you pop the game in, why don't you get some of your friends to pre-order from different places and then you can all share your codes or whatever. Oh wait, first you have to get some friends...

i was just about to post a comment saying about the same thing.
like how, there are different packs, for people who like different things in a game.
like people who like to pimp out their ride, there's the hot rod skin. or the crazy spenders, there's the bolt pack. or for the weapon nuts, there's the power pack.
It's supposed to give variety, and choices.
BorrowedChaos @ Jul 3rd 2009 7:17AM
Exactly what I meant to say.
AshStampede @ Jul 3rd 2009 2:05PM
Is this a full game (tools of destruction) or a episode game (quest for booty? somthing?) that was on the psn?
