Killzone 2 getting patch and new DLC: 'Napalm & Cordite'

Incoming! Another DLC pack is en route to Killzone 2. This time, it's the "Napalm & Cordite" pack, which we'll be hearing much more about next week. In the meantime, Guerilla Games has seen fit to detail the next patch, which will coincide with the new DLC content. Patch 1.28 is the "latest and greatest update" to the game and adds a multitude of new features when it drops on July 14.
These features include, obviously, code support for the new Napalm & Cordite maps, "Suljeva Cliffside" and "Arctower Landing," as well as code which adds the flamethrower and bolt gun to multiplayer. The patch also contains new trophies, more detailed information when browsing games and a bunch of other fixes and updates. Check out the full list over at the PlayStation Blog.

my thoughts exactly. the bolt gun is the funnest weapon in the game IMO (lightning gun is too cheap).

Cool! Guerrilla is really supporting this game well.
PS: Anyone know if the DLC is worth it? I mean, for the price of the 2 that they have out now, you could buy a PSN game with $2 to spare.

I think it's def worth it. I mean considering the hours I play on each map. I play them more than most PSN games i have.
southern hills and beachhead are especially good, the other two are ok

This is the first time that I purchase every DLC that comes out for a game, & I mean all of them.. KZ2 is the only FPS I'm really good at.
Before KZ2 FPSs were a nightmare for me & I hated them.
I'm really proud of this game.
Besides, the sound of a killing chirp is the best thing I've heard this year! & I'm not on Kool-Aid.
KZ2 deserves much, much better sales IMO.

Yeah that chirp sound is the best thing ever. It is even better when you hear it like 5 consecutive times thanks to the work of a well placed sentry turret. I also feel like you in the sense that I'm better at this game than other FPSs. I think we feel like that because matches are longer, and since they mix the game types, we can all find something we are very good at on each match. I really think other FPS should start using that feature, after playing Warzone it's hard to go back and play single objective matches.
In another note, I didn't like the fact that they unlocked the special abilities for everyone. I hardly had time to play the game, but I was having fun by slowly gaining new abilities for the classes. Some of us actually enjoy leveling up! I wish they had made it optional...

Yeah its pretty annoying trying to search a match and then you find like 1 to 0 matches. It happened to me last time.

I think they're patching the game so you can use the Boltgun and Flamethrower on ALL maps (I hope). Anyway, probably pick this up, first map pack was Meh, second was excellent, hopefully this will be just as good... and nice to see they've got some new trophies too (Hint: Compare trophies to see the new list :)

Flame thrower and bolt gun, not the lightning gun. At least, not according to this particular post.
That lightning gun would radically change the dynamics of a Killzone game.
Then again...a 16-on-16 game with everyone having a lightning gun would be utter chaos. And utter awesome. ;-)

But. The ability to use the bolt gun? Worth twice what I've been paying for all those other packs. :-)

GRRR more dlc or battlefield 1943. only one can win. because what is the point if having two fps games. But disappointed in the previous dlc for killzone. only a handful of people seem to have it. everyone else is playing the standard maps. Then they will bundle all six at a stupid reduce rate and early adopters are punished by the money they lost.

You can't have it both ways. When they release the bundle there'll be more people in the DLC maps.
I haven't played much KZ2 since I bought it. I played 2 weeks then I just kinda lost interest.
It's the voice chat that annoys me... I want to talk to my team, but I'm not sure they hear me and don't understand what anyone else is saying. The only in-game voice chat I've used that works well is in Team Fortress 2...

I'm not too excited about flamethrowers, they are always annoying and cheap and require zero skill to run into a crowded are and get a couple of kills just randomly spraying it.
I only support it they make the assault class weak to the flamethrower.

Let's hope patch 1.28:
* Eliminates 16vs8 matches.
* Gets rid of Network Errors.
* Spawn point camping.
* Changes the VC9 for the Flamethrower or Bolt Gun.
At least it will take away 1 of the games worst offenders, which was not knowing Server Details. Joining games with every weapon locked was frustrating.
Maybe this way it will make me come back.

spawn killing is a annoying but at the same time your team has to be pretty bad to allow that to happen. I've only been in that situation a few times. set up some extra bots in some well placed areas if you think it'll help

I was just thinking isn't it about time for another $6 donation to GG for a map pack? I am impressed by how fast they are rolling out new maps and upgrades. I would just like to know at what point are we going to see the "you have not seen the best stuff" from GG.
I also hope that they don't pull and Epic like Gears of War and end up releasing a $20 disc right before Christmas that includes the previous 2 packs, this pack, and an eventual forth pack with an addition "lost episodes" single player level. I am hoping that since the map packs are 2 for $6 that eventually this will lead to some free DLC content for the game or Home DLC in the way of the Vasari throne room.
Then again last I heard the game cost was $22 million and growing this was before the game was released. In any case good job GG and I would just like to ask IG games where the DLC for R2 is or did that get pushed aside for R&C?
By napalm does that mean there is a napalm drop every so often? Replace the nuke with napalm. "Ah I love the smell of naplam in the morning...victory"
