Del Ray announces first God of War novel for March 2010

Sure, Kratos isn't exactly the most eloquent of game characters, but, much like the Greek heroes on which he's based, his exploits will soon be chronicled using the written word. Del Ray has announced more video game novels, this time based on the God of War games. With a film -- whose story is rumored to be uncannily similar to that of the first game -- in the works, it makes sense for Sony to attempt to suck more money out of the franchise with a few books.
Matthew Stover will pen the first 320-page novel, which will be available on March 23, 2010 for $15, according to the pre-order website. That's just in time for the release of the third game. What impeccable timing! We're always happy to be taken deeper into our favorite gaming universes through new media, so we're hoping it's only a matter of time before an Uncharted novel is announced (to be released alongside the movie, of course).

in grade school i ordered a couple game novelizations that i thought were pretty good. ninja gaiden was one, based off the nes version. i might read a God of War book. i used read through parts of the halo books when hanging around the bookstore with roommates.

His previous books are some of my favorite. There's a reason why I generally refer to him as "Matt Fucking Stover". ;)

seems he wrote some star wars books and mostly all fantasy and science fiction. all i can find really. and one of his books on amazon has pretty good reviews. 4 1/2/5. maybe the book will be good then

He wrote the novelisation of Revenge of the Sith which was actually really good. It was 1000000 times better than the movie. I for one am pleased with the choice, Matthew Stover is a good author and should do it justice

Sean, pick up Heroes Die and any fears or doubts you have about the quality of this book will be immediately erased. It is hands down one of my favorite books of all time.
I don't play the God of War games. I am buying this book because Matt's name is on it.
That's really all there is to it.

I'm playing through God of War 1 for the first time. Interesting story for a book for sure....
