Upcoming LittleBigPlanet DLC to make creation more 'versatile'
Save for a few of the game's beefier DLC packs, a majority of the downloadable content for LittleBigPlanet has been purely aesthetic. Not that we mind being able to dress our Sackboys up like Cole McGrath -- but we'd prefer something that makes the already rich level creation engine just a little bit richer.
Fortunately, during the Develop Conference earlier this month, Media Molecule co-founder Mark Healy announced that an upcoming piece of DLC will add "lots of exciting things that make it into more of a versatile creation tool." He didn't get any more specific than that, but added that it would make fans "very happy." Hey, if it helps our levels not look like something a six-year-old drew in Sunday school, we'll be pleased as punch.

Now that we have hundreds of dollars of DLC, how about dropping the price of the disc to $20 to get more people playing?
Tom @ Jul 29th 2009 11:18AM
The game is still easily worth $60.
LokeSTL @ Jul 29th 2009 11:26AM
It could be worth $100, but that doesn't mean people will buy it for that much. My point is that they make plenty of money on the DLC at this point and have probably recovered their production cost. Why not drop the price on the disc to get more people into the LBC community and rely on the DLC for profit?

I'm surprised it hasn't dropped in price over there.
You can buy it for as little as £11.99 (Amazon) here in the UK.

ooo. guess it's in higher demand here? I would easily scrounge up $20 to pay for this game. To be fair they're likely making a lot more money this way, and that's the way economics work. Sigh, guess they'll have to wait for me to be a customer.

would be great if they added the feature to be able to use anything on your HDD to import in the game. The cam isn't that great to bring in pics of my artwork.
Paul @ Jul 29th 2009 11:35AM
that would be sick. especially if you could sketch up a level and drop it in as a back drop to build you level on. or paint a background!
drdre74 @ Jul 29th 2009 12:04PM
Thats a good idea Paul i like that. I hope they add the feature to make a level online with friends.
DrunkMiffy @ Jul 29th 2009 11:22AM
Well, the Joystiq writers must have bad level designing skills D: haha, none of my levels look like a 6 year olds drawing.
In fact, most of them look like stuff out of Fat Princess.. Which is good, no?

The game is already AWESOME. More versatile means more good levels, woah! I'm addicted to LBP.
SolidSnakeX @ Aug 31st 2009 5:55AM
Hey maybe they should fix LBP by coming out with what they said 1 year ago THE HELP PATCH!! Duh I still need help on the Expert Tutorial Trophy!! But the water Patch coming up looks very cool!
randallmcmginness @ Jul 29th 2009 4:00PM
Water would be great but I think that'll come with part 2. I'm looking forward to seeing what it is. I need to get the game back from a friend and start playing this again.
I would love to see an inFamous level pack come along with Cole's costume and electrical powers.

I want splitscreen + capture the flag! /fantasies
Seriously though, what could it be, besides more layers.

Hopefully, it's Team Online Co-Creation that was promised at launch, and then promised in the first DLC.. And still isn't here.
