Mytran Wars not canceled, coming soon

Publisher Deep Silver is planning on bringing Mytran Wars on PSP via UMD next month. When grilled about a downloadable release, the publisher couldn't confirm any plans to release the game on PlayStation Network. Our brief hands-on with the game revealed truly impressive production values, with fully-voiced comic book-styled cutscenes that really bring the world to life. The gameplay should be familiar to anyone that's played Advance Wars: it's classic turn-based strategy with fog of war. Unfortunately, the game moved very slowly, with animations taking much too time. Hopefully, the sluggish pace won't prove to be a game-breaker, when it finally launches on PSP next month.

Hmm, I was looking forward to this one. I'll hold off a little until I can read a few more reviews, but this looks like a solid game. Hopefully the slow animations won't be game-breaking, and maybe they'll tweak that before release. As long as I can save anywhere, anytime, I'll be patient with the animations. I hate games on the PSP that prevent you from saving when you want to--it is a PSP, after all, and therefore often gets used "on-the-go," so I need to be able to save quickly if I need to.

"The PSP-exclusive RTS had been often-delayed, from 2008 to early 2009."
"The gameplay should be familiar to anyone that's played Advance Wars: it's classic turn-based strategy with fog of war."
So what the hell is this? Real time or turn based? Make up your mind, seriously.

I think just looking at the picture we can all assume it's really a turnbased game and not a RTS, especially when RTS is so hard to do well on a full size console, what makes you think anyone would try it on a portable (that isnt a DS.)

If you want Advanced Wars on the PSP, go buy Field Commander. It's pretty much an exact clone with 3D-ish visuals instead of 2D.
