Persona 3 Portable intro shoots awesome bullets into your eyes
The upcoming PSP version of the game will have some significant changes, like this new opening intro sequence and new song done by Shuhei Kita (the same performer behind Persona: Trinity Soul's intro). In addition to being able to take control of a female lead, the gameplay has also been tweaked with brand new Beginner and Maniac modes. Players will also be able to move to any location they want from the menu -- a much improved experience for handheld play. Finally, you'll be able to issue commands to square mates directly, a pretty significant change from the original PS2 game.
All in all, we have to say we're very excited for Persona 3 Portable. Now, we just need Atlus to get working on an English version ASAP!
*Shooting yourself in the head is not awesome. Do not attempt at home. Persona 3 is a video game, and real-life results may differ. Please consult a physician before shooting yourself in the head.

why???don't you think it's a bit too early???
Josh @ Aug 21st 2009 9:24PM
Oh, you again.
Yeah, as I thought, you're an idiot.
That aside, this intro really makes me want to play Persona 3 again.
sony boy @ Aug 21st 2009 9:45PM
your the idiot. i'm saying why are they releasing another persona remake so early??? they should've waited another year or 2 after the release of persona psp.
Kattleox @ Aug 22nd 2009 11:32AM
Because they are...brace yourself...Different! Thats like saying that Final Fantasy XIV is coming out too close to the release of Final Fantasy XIII. And besides, they are both ports. Its not like they are something we haven't experienced before. And if you don't want them, don't buy them. That simple.
saito ps3 @ Aug 21st 2009 9:00PM
it is, we dont even have the original persona yet. but i hope they use persona 3's battle system and not persona 1's battle system. p3 and p4 have one of the best battle systems i ever played with for a jrpg

Having never played the other Persona games, is this series any good to play?

It depends... The PS2 version has quite a few loading screens, so if they correct that, I'd be more willing to advise you to get it.
It has a progression of 'links' that you have to improve throughout the game; social (these are associated with your Personas), academic, intelligence, charm, and courage.
Storyline's pretty good, and there's actually a second part to it due to its popularity called "The Answer".
If you like turn-based RPG's with this type of system, I'd say give it a shot!

Are you buying tekken 6??

Hey look, P3 is playable now.

I think it's funny that he asks if people agree, as if his statement even makes sense.
PN04 @ Aug 21st 2009 10:22PM
Geez it really is a bit early for another version of the game we had two within a years time on the PS2 and this one a year later for PSP. But they are offering a lot of changes to this version but if you already have P3 or P3FES you kinda feel like their time would have been better spent putting the changes in game play in their next game because chances are you already played it in one of the previous forms.
cafecito @ Aug 21st 2009 10:38PM
The original Persona coming up doesn't look that appealing to me, with that 16-bit graphics thing going on and all. But now, THIS, this is what I'm talking about. I got rid of my PS2 before P3 came out, so I'd be more than glad to be able to play it. And in portable version? even better.
glitched @ Aug 21st 2009 11:04PM
wow, the PSP has really become THE "rpg console" of "this generation"
Leish @ Aug 22nd 2009 1:29AM
I think it's tied with the DS as the "remake RPG console" of this generation. All systems have failed to produce enough new adequate jrpgs this generation thus far, but I think all in all, the DS has done the best in this service.
Leish @ Aug 22nd 2009 1:25AM
Can't I do both?

Persona 3 was one of the best RPGs I've ever played! Though the vast corridors of Tartarus sometimes got me a little bored. Thank god for "auto pilot" mode :)

Yes!

I sense Death.
If you've never played Persona 3 and are ready to serve the lich king, er, attend Gekkoukan high school for the next three months (or so), you would have to be insane not to pick up this game for the PS2, PSP or any platform.
Junpei? Mitsuru? Elizabeth? It's a great RPG and anime show all in one!
Seriously, it has the best localized (and frequently hilarious) dialog of any game I've played in a long time. Persona also gets my vote for best up-and-coming RPG series - watch out Final Fantasy!
Also P4 is awesome, though not quite as epic.
