Sega officially announces Phantasy Star Portable 2
Though it was beaten to the punch by the budget re-release of the original Phantasy Star Portable, and then by a Famitsu article released shortly thereafter, Sega has officially confirmed the existence of Phantasy Star Portable 2 -- a sequel not only imbued with a brand new story and gameplay features, but also with the oft-requested addition of online multiplayer support.
The game's official site lists a December 3 launch date for the latest installment in the PSO franchise. It also gives some insight into the new features present in the game -- you can check out a translated version of Game Watch's PSP2 coverage here. We've sent an email to Sega in an attempt to find out if and when the game will be localized for U.S. release. We've got our Meseta-hungry fingers crossed for a favorable response.

I played and am playing the first PSP for PSP. I really enjoyed it but I would say the gae was fifty dollars when i first bought it and I never had any friends who would buy a 50 dollar game for coop.
Online will fix this for me. I'll buy it knowing there will be people online to join up with.
Adhoc in a america is almost a lost cause.
I think there has to be some push to get people excited about this title before they release the title cold turkey in the us. videos trailers.

Is this actually online or is the crappy DS version going to be superior again?

Some of the best news I've heard today. PSO and PSU are some of my most favorite online games, and the fact that this one is going to get true online is absolutely incredible. I barely enjoyed the last since I don't even -know- anyone in person with a PSP!

With infrastructure support.... I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this revision and I'm glad I held off buying PSP when it first came out, primarily due to its lack of an infrastructure mode.

Oooo even more interesting, read the "budget re release" and totally skipped the sequel thing .... yeah you would think the 2 would have given it away but monsterhunter has dulled my senses with its ability to release the same game with some slight changes to its content and name schtick.
Now I sorta regret holding off on the original PS:P might pick that up later but after PS:P2 most likley..... I just hope they bring back MAGs I noticed they sorta had them in the PS:P demo but they were just sorta there I really enjoyed raising them in PSO 1/2 & BB

Hope the game includes an option for a camera that follows a little closer to the action. The character models were nice, but I could barely appreciate them from such a distance.

yeah that was weird sometimes I would have liked to get a nice picture of my party or my new loot. the Demo had a zoom in feature in character creation. also it would have been cool to rename my character after a while.

There not going to bring back the mags. The mag for portable game will probadly be in PSO zero. That one the problems i had with the the PSP portable. Also to since there was no mag no 100% abilities to do some really good damage when your fighting
