Looking at Trinity Universe's 3D RPG battles

We're still having a hard time wrapping our heads around this: a 3D RPG from Nippon Ichi? Trinity Universe doesn't have the graphic quality we've come to expect from PS3 exclusives, but it's certainly a far cry from Cross Edge. Those hungry for an old-school, turn-based JRPG will find themselves salivating at this new battle footage from Trinity Universe. In usual Nippon Ichi fashion, this crossover RPG is heavy on number-crunching and big combos. Just look above to see the game's team attacks in action.

Siliconera has a few more videos of this PS3 JRPG in action, showcasing the "skill link" and "soul break" systems. For fans of Nippon Ichi games, these mechanics will seem entirely familiar but the new 3D makeover certainly makes it feel fresh.

I certainly like how the game looks and probably will enjoy it if localized... but please N1 (Nippon Ichi) no more 10 billion damage... Disgaea 3 was a nightmare, and i spent lots of hours to get it.

I can't wait until the PS4 when Nippon Ichi games have low-tier PS3 graphics! It's gonna be so awesome!!1!!1!!!!one!!1

On a serious note: this looks fun. I'm not a graphics whore by any means (I'm more about the actual art design), but when a game is a full retail release and looks like a ten year old game it's hard to convince myself to buy it unless it comes out at like $40 or has a TON of good narrative content.

Just reread my comment and I didn't emphasize how much fun this game looks like it will be. So to be clear: it looks hella fun... but I still won't pay full price unless its a huge game.

you clearly fail to realise N1 is a really small developer and not capable of the super high price Squeenix quality art you so clearly want. they barely just got away from doing PS2 games you expect them to just launch into HD gaming at the drop of a hat?

Hmmm? I said I'm into art design more than anything didn't I? I understand not being able to do super-high-def so I'm willing to purchase a game for a lower price if it OBVIOUSLY has a lower budget/expectations and will be happy to do so if it has the content to back up a full $60 price.
