PSA: Firmware 3.00 now available

If you haven't been selecting "System Update" from your XMB every few minutes this evening like we have, now's the time to do so. Sony has released PlayStation 3 firmware 3.00, which tweaks several long-time features (no more battery meter blocking the clock!), adds the What's New section (above) and introduces features such as animated themes.

Once you've updated, drop your comments with the others below and let us know what you think Sony got right (and wrong) with this release.

Coross chat was never promised or showcased as a part of 3.00. Just because some super_secret lying p.o.s chose to dream up some fakeness regarding EA snubbing Sony doesn't make it so. Pay less attention to the internetz, little man.

So did EA, if I'm not mistaken. In fact for companies that don't usually speculate on rumour they were very quick to surface and debunk what that useless cut and paste merchant had been spilling onto the forums.

Of course EA/Sony would deny it you idiots. You think they'd admit it? Then they'd be in an even worse position than had the features come out and not supported their games. Now it's not out because of them.

Not trying to get down voted, but can anyone tell me what evidence we have that Super Secret is legit?

The ars technica has at least proven himself over time. Does Super Secret have a track record I'm not aware of?

Otherwise I'm not sure why EA would support chat on the 360 and not the PS3. It just doesn't add up. It's not like Harry Potter even sold well.

ok because for some reason no one has noticed this as yet. the grey borders are actually the boxes you see when you look at someone's trophy card. so i am figuring they are working on letting you see trophy info without having to highlight someone's profile. it's common sense people stop whining and OPEN your damn eyes.

I got it installed last night myself and it does look good and adds a lot of useful features like multiple sound output and the improved time on top. I also noticed something weird. It feels like my Icons are bigger, its like I'm looking at 720p instead of 1080p. The guy on the video said we can change it back to the classic but I still haven't found it. I don't like how my friends list work, I like the old transparent version.

not really replying to traceur, its for all people having trouble playing music while surfing or else just TURN OFF whats new , go to settings & turn it off , & thats it, also stop complaining about the grey boxes in due time they will filled with cool stuff , I also wanna say HI IM NEW !! & ps3 its awesome.

Yes! I noticed that too, kinda bugs me. It's like it has a SD TV feel to it.

And the "what's new" thing... can't figure out where to turn that off.

Sorry, My ps3 and 360 was stolen from my home about 8 months ago, it's my first up date in awhile. I just picked up a slim about 3 days ago and it's the first time I've really played on it.

Damn, that sucks Chris. I hope your packing heat now, so if someone tries to steal your slim while your home you pump them full of lead. I know I would if the situation ever occurred. None the less, welcome back.
