PSA: LittleBigPlanet demo releases next week
Nearly one year after its original release, LittleBigPlanet is finally getting a playable demo. Yep! Media Molecule's PS3 platformer is getting repackaged in a new "Game of the Year Edition," and the demo will coincide with its launch. You can download the LBP demo next week on the PlayStation Store: September 10th.
While we're big fans of free demos, we're not entirely sure how effective a demo released so long after a game's release will be. Clearly, only a monster would have ignored LBP for so long -- how could someone possibly say no to a face like Sackboy's?

call me a monster then. maybe a demo will encourage my to buy a copy
Mazrael @ Sep 4th 2009 4:56PM
I think Sackboy is cool, but I'm not even tempted.. although I was thinking this could of been the PSP demo...
Space @ Sep 4th 2009 5:21PM
the both of you should be ashamed. the replay value on this is infinite...I just played some user level called "snakes on a dame," and it was awesome! it was very prince of persia-ish. sackboy swinging on poles and solving puzzles. good stuff. I can't wait for water.
un4gvn94538 @ Sep 4th 2009 6:15PM
yeah, im ashamed i dont feel like playing a video game with something that looks like a raggedy ann reject. sorry.
benny boy @ Sep 5th 2009 5:47PM
I don't know how you can judge a game so much without ever having played it.
un4gvn94538 @ Sep 5th 2009 5:57PM
who said i judged it? do all games appeal to you? no. everyones different. i was being sarcastic to the person saying i should be ashamed. im not. unfortunately people (fanboys) dont like it when you dont agree with them sarcastic or not.

poke one of my eyes out, stick a horn on my head, slep some wings on my back and paint me purple and add a thirst for human blood cause I'm a monster by your standards.*
This demo may make me finally buy this game cause I have yet tried it out.
Andrew Yoon @ Sep 4th 2009 5:38PM
It's actually a good thing you waited. The GOTY edition comes with loads of DLC extras. It's a terrific deal, IMO.
Space @ Sep 4th 2009 5:49PM
siding with Canada now? I see...

*Has any one figured out my caption yet? :D

A monster, or someone who owns a TV that doesn't display 720p. (Yes, I went out and got the $200 HDMI scaler, so save your venom for someone else.)
Space @ Sep 4th 2009 5:25PM
What kind of monster doesn't own a 720p tv?!
Roto13 @ Sep 5th 2009 1:53AM
I don't really see how this is relevant anyway.
Aaron @ Sep 7th 2009 12:31AM
This is relevant for about 10% of PS3 owners that have a first-gen HDTV that doesn't support 720p resolution (e.g., only 480p/1080i). I am one of those, but using an HDMI scaler fixed that issue so I can play 720p games like LITTLE BIG PLANET.
See the relevance?
Roto13 @ Sep 8th 2009 4:58PM
... Not really, since you don't need to play it in HD to play it at all.
WhiteShield @ Sep 4th 2009 5:04PM
aren't even the demos that they have in gamestops and best buys and what not even just a kiosk demo that isn't a real level? i was actually hoping that this was for the psp version and since i already have the ps3 version, i'll obviously pass. very VERY good game though, sorta wish i had the GOTY version so i could get the map packs and stuff
Solace @ Sep 4th 2009 5:20PM
I guess I'm not a monster w00t!
Pat @ Sep 4th 2009 6:05PM
Then I am a monster too. I didn't get LBP. While I think that the idea is great and have no doubt about the quality of the game, I always wondered how much fun I personally would have with it. This is going to be a good chance to try it out.
sony boy (6 years til sony man child!) @ Sep 4th 2009 5:27PM
Damn it joystiq!!! i thought you were talking about the psp version!
eNrique @ Sep 4th 2009 5:48PM
Too little, too late.
dgknight500 @ Sep 4th 2009 6:10PM
Ironic, isn't it?
korwyn @ Sep 4th 2009 6:18PM
let's say, this demo is for those new PS3 owners who just got the slim?
David @ Sep 4th 2009 8:01PM
exactly, Sony is clearly re-launching their system this holiday season. New "system", new branding, new price, new firmware. They are expecting a lot of new users in the months to come. It makes sense for them to launch a demo now taking that into consideration.
Neo Asuma @ Sep 4th 2009 7:45PM
Guess I'm a monster too...especially so since I'm more interested in ModNation Racers. I will certainly give this demo a shot, though.
jaaaaaaaaaaames @ Sep 17th 2009 12:51PM
cool i can finally try little big planet :)
j.howlett @ Sep 4th 2009 11:35PM
i'm a monster that had the game since launch and i'm seriously considering the goty edition. i also plan on trying the demo.
James @ Sep 5th 2009 1:02PM
Is it really that serious??
Randal L. Schwartz @ Sep 20th 2009 6:06PM
I may have to try this demo. I've read good things about LBP, but never actually seen it in action (other than youtube videos).
And yes, I'm probably the only person on the planet who (a) bought the PS3 strictly for GTA4, and (b) played GTA4 to completion strictly on a standard-def TV (yes, I don't own an HDTV yet). Hopefully, LBP will be playable on SD.
josh @ Sep 20th 2009 7:53PM
umm im playing the demo right now and it has a very low amount of flaws and i reccomend everyone to buy it
