High praise and high action in latest Demon's Souls trailer

Atlus isn't exactly known for big-budget epics, but that's exactly what Demon's Souls feels like in this latest trailer. From Software's hardcore RPG touts some rather unique online connectivity, and this trailer teases the functionality, along with a bevvy of overwhelming praise from various media outlets. Why no quotes from us, Atlus? Oh, that's why.

This is an awesome game, i have played it to death (got the import a while back) And still i am going to buy the US version too. It is that good.

It depends on you really, straight up playthru would probably take you 10-12 hours, thats not counting the MANY times you will die and have to start all over, weapon creation of character development, world tendencies, etc... My 1st play thru took me a month to finish. I did everything and got all the weapons i could, but lets say you want to go for every spell/miracle available and weapon thats going to take you at least 3 play throughs. I am on my 6 play through and soul lvl 203

Is this game really as difficult as I've heard? I am intrigued, but crushing difficulty is a source of serious frustration for me; a la Ninja Gaiden.

It is hard really hard......on your first play through. After that its not smooth sailing but you do start to get the hang of it so it gets easier. Every time you start a new game or what they call new game + the lvl of difficulty goes up but it does get easier b/c you will have better armor/weapons and more spells.

But in the beginning it is hard man, i got very very frustrated but the rewards are awesome.

I made it through the Monster Hunter games on PSP so I've gotten used to frustrating battles by now hehe. :) This, Uncharted 2 and Borderlands seem like a good way to end 2009 in style.

i hear it has easy trophies and the game looks good ! also " Atlus isn't exactly known for big-budget epics " that maybe so but they brought over one of the Best RPG's i ever played Ogre Battle: Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together .... I LOVED THIS GAME .. it is a rare game and it's cost alot of money to buy it .. i would just love too see a release on the PS3 for a PS1 classic but then you got the real company that released it from Japan that was bought by Square Enix and this sucks i really don't think i'l ever see it come to NA for a PSone classic ...

Anyone else here play that game Ogre Battle: Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together for the PS1? all i will say is it took a different turn from most RPG's and also talking to enemies human or animal into your group with low help to persuade them to come join your side .. i thought was a great feature !

But that old preview is, well, so old... Are you saying that Demons Souls sucks to this day even after it has gotten some great reviews (overseas of course)? I mean really yoon, why not update your impressions at least, for better or worse.

I have the chinese/english version of this game.
All I can say is, the reviewer has completely missed the charm of this game...

Also, what kind of RPG would it be if it had uncharted/gears regenerating health?
Every heard of magic spells? Regen? Blessed weapons?

I always find it odd that all writers on Joystiq act as though they have this hive mind in which all of them like and dislike the same things.

I think I'll trust the wave of other places, sorry. I have to imagine someone on this site enjoyed it or is looking forward to it.
