This would be pretty tempting were it not for the horror stories I've heard of people being able to download their videos only once.

Its true you can't redownload movies and series like you can games and DLC. However, as of the last holiday (I believe it was then) you can now backup all your titles to a external harddrive.
I have heard of Sony allowing a re download of movies in extreme situations, however they only allow you to do it once. After that, your hosed.

PS3 does a good job of up converting and the bonus of being able to watch the SD version on PSP is a good enough reason to get these...that is if I wanted to catch up and didn't already use my PC to record & store shows already....

give me a subscription based service like netflix for $10-$20/month and i'll be all over it. $6 for a movie is just too much.
davidspencer_jr @ Sep 11th 2009 4:01PM
you do know you can use the browser on your ps3 and just go to the netflix page and do all the same stuff you can do on a pc even watch it live
Jam @ Sep 11th 2009 4:11PM
unless something has changed, the PS3's browser does not support Netflix.
M0N5TER @ Sep 11th 2009 2:14PM
Now I see why the blocked Hulu in the browser: So they can charge us to watch otherwise FREE content.
Kodros @ Sep 11th 2009 2:17PM
Hulu blocked the PS3, not the other way around. Nice try though.
hplcman @ Sep 11th 2009 5:19PM
But you can still watch hulu through a media server like PlayOn if you have it...

If you buy the whole first season of any show, it ends up pretty cheap. Of course I like the DVD/BD versions of seasons because of extras, commentary, making-of material, and other language/subtitle options. Until digital content gets all that, I'll stick with renting through Netflix.
cLanKin89 @ Sep 11th 2009 3:00PM
exactly. id take a box set over a digital copy anyday
Fade2blac @ Sep 11th 2009 3:18PM
I'm going to be all over this, like a princess to cake.
Dreadhead541 @ Sep 11th 2009 4:53PM
Are these just rentals, or will we actually be able to keep the videos as long as we want.
Kodros @ Sep 11th 2009 7:15PM
They aren't rentals. Actually, I don't think you can rent TV Shows on there.
nevin1 @ Sep 11th 2009 11:21PM
1st of all lame choices, 2nd what do u ppl mean we cant re download videos?
DryvBy @ Sep 12th 2009 12:41PM

Weak on the HD...it wouldn't affect them much if they just bundled the SD with the HD for people with both a ps3 and psp. One of the many reasons I won't adopt this.
