PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia sells over 140K in one day
Walking around the streets of Akihabara, you'd be hard pressed to find a copy of Tales of Vesperia for PS3. Why? The game has sold over 140,000 units in one day, according to initial reports from Japan. Already, that's more than the first month of sales for the original Xbox 360 version, and nearly equal to the lifetime sales for that version. The promise of added content and being on a system that Japanese people actually own both contributed favorably to Namco Bandai's sales.
While Namco Bandai must be pleased with the money it's raking in (from yesterday's sales, and from Microsoft), the publisher has yet to announce a US release for Vesperia PS3. We think there are a lot of new PS3 owners that would love to check out the game on Sony's console.

Somehow I knew there would be a reference to the "Microsoft funding PS3 development" article in there somewhere.

I'm more surprised that it didn't sell twice or three times as much PS3 version on the first day compare to the life long 360 version sales.
korwyn @ Sep 18th 2009 1:40PM
now what I'm wondering is that what IF the both versions were released at the same time, would the 360 version be sold at all in Japan?
not saying bad about 360 or anything, I'm sure IF Mess Effect was on both consoles, more people will get it on the 360 version in the USA as well.

Wow, that's really depressing for 360 in Japan.

I agree. Now there's more of a chance that TOV will come to Europe and the U.S. with sales like these.

I already played the 360 version, but I hope for the PS3-only crowd's sake that this version sees a stateside release. It's easily the best RPG of this gen, IMO.

Quick question, did the US version of Tales of Vesperia have the option to switch audio dialogue?
Jimmy @ Sep 18th 2009 7:29AM
does it have english subtitles??
RagingStormX @ Sep 18th 2009 1:19PM
The japanese demo surely doesn't...chances are this doesn't either.
hunter2223 @ Sep 18th 2009 8:26AM
I have a 360 and have been waiting in the hope that this game will come out on the PS3 with the Japanese track intact and subtitles. I tend to enjoy 1-2 JRPG's every gen, and this one is one I've had my eye on. Here's hoping they do a US release!
Bourrask @ Sep 18th 2009 8:37AM
Maybe now they'll finally realize there's some money to be made on the PS3 with RPGs.
jarhead906 @ Sep 18th 2009 11:41AM
Who would have thought?

Tim @ Sep 19th 2009 3:35AM
WHAT? Sold OVER 9000 (copies)!?
Hey, Namco Bandai, this should be proof enough to promote more Tales here... in America! More Tales, less Dragon Ball.
