Amazon cuts Quest for Booty price down to $10
We've never really understood the attraction of adding a middleman to the digital distribution sales model. Why would anyone want to purchase a download code for a PSN or XBLA title through a third party, when they could just as easily purchase the same title directly through those services? Now we know the answer to that question -- because occasionally, those vendors will undercut the price of those services' first-party offerings. (Does this qualify as a scenario deserving of an "oh, snap?" We believe so. Oh, snap.)
Amazon recently lowered the price of a download code for Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty to $10 -- which is a $5 discount off the game's current price on PSN. We're sure Sony doesn't appreciate being undersold, but Amazon's cheapening of one of the PSN's most robust titles -- and the predecessor to the swiftly approaching A Crack in Time -- is definitely okay in our book.

YAY COMPETITION!!!!
fundando @ Oct 14th 2009 3:00PM
Ditto.
I think Sony knew what they were doing when they allowed Amazon to take over some sales.
Since they can't undercut retailers but another retailer can.
kacex @ Oct 14th 2009 1:45PM
WTF??!?! I tried to buy it and they say they cant for geographical reasons.... Ok, im from Ecuador, but its supposed to be able to sell the code to anyone from the world... isnt it?

kacex @ Oct 14th 2009 1:54PM
Then there is no reason to have this... I cant buy on US PSN with my own credit card neither in Amazon PSN... :S
mywhitenoise @ Oct 14th 2009 2:01PM
kacex, what part of "US ONLY" do you not understand?
kacex @ Oct 14th 2009 2:07PM

Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Oct 14th 2009 3:13PM
there is no point?? well maybe to you....but there is to those of us in the US
kacex @ Oct 14th 2009 3:49PM
yeah if I lived there it would be great, but it would be much more helpful if they could sell it as any product in amazon, a.k.a. not region locked...
sithdawg @ Oct 14th 2009 4:37PM
Well as soon as Amazon abolishes region locking, I hope they decide to tackle those darn copy protected saves next. :)
jahd5000 @ Oct 14th 2009 6:06PM
Im with you dude, I was glad Amazon would start selling PSN stuff , so I could buy them directly, with my credit card like everything from Amazon, and not having people bring me PSN cards...
Im still dont figure out a possible reason Sony would lock this, and even less, CHRIS D., of any advantage this could get you, as a US resident, than those you already have... I mean, its not like people from other countries buying stuff will do you any bad....
kacex @ Oct 14th 2009 7:37PM
@sith
I'm not saying that the voucher should work on any PS Store, I'm saying they could sell it like any giving product...
@jahd
I used to use entropay but I think it doesn't work anymore :'(
j.howlett @ Oct 14th 2009 1:48PM

Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Oct 14th 2009 1:51PM

mywhitenoise @ Oct 14th 2009 1:52PM
What do you mean, in file size, or length?
I think its around 2GB, and about 3 to 4 hours.
j.howlett @ Oct 14th 2009 5:40PM
i was thinking file size, thanks
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Oct 14th 2009 1:52PM
Sounds good to me....I wonder if its a sale or if its permanent....either way its good for everyone that hasn't bought it yet, I went back and played thru this a week ago...
mywhitenoise @ Oct 14th 2009 1:54PM
I want to replay both Future titles before the new one comes out...but the whore in me wants to continue ranking up for the eventual Warhawk platinum. That and Katamari, Uncharted I'll probably have done by the weekend.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Oct 14th 2009 3:12PM
Platinum in Warhawk aye?? I could rank up like 3 or 4 levels if I can get a certain requirement....
izit420 @ Oct 14th 2009 1:58PM
Thanks! Bought it immediately
Dreadhead541 @ Oct 14th 2009 2:09PM
i don't have to pay tax when i buy through amazon either, so this is awesome!
Dave @ Oct 14th 2009 2:11PM
My guess is that PSN will drop the price also, but the PSN store only updates on thursdays. Amazon on the other hand can update whenever it wants, thus the price drop a few days early.
Fane [A-MF Brigade] @ Oct 14th 2009 7:24PM
That's what I'm hoping (I'm in Canada, so Amazon may be a no-go).
I want to play QFB, but $15 is too much for 3-4 hours.
HardBoiled2009 @ Oct 14th 2009 2:19PM
MAYBE, Just MAYBE .... theirs going to be a fall sale coming to us and this will be one of those games to go down in price ? just a thought .. i really hope their will be a fall sale .. if their isn't they will probably do a winter one.
sithdawg @ Oct 14th 2009 4:32PM
Oh snap! Instant purchase!
Pat @ Oct 14th 2009 5:11PM
Hey guys. Remember that every year around Thanksgiving there is a Holiday sale where many titles drop in price considerably.
Fane [A-MF Brigade] @ Oct 14th 2009 7:28PM
Hopefully, Amazon's pricing (and the PSPgo store) will spur more frequent sales on the PSN. There have been a number of price reductions (temporary and permanent) lately, so things look good.
atastysammich @ Oct 14th 2009 11:03PM
Do I drop my Hamilton on Quest for Booty, or get a barebones, multiplayer-less PSP Mini of Tetris? Decisions, decisions!
mietha CAG @ Oct 15th 2009 12:45AM
Been on the fence since it came out at 15. Bought it last night at 10. Didn't expect the better than 2.3 gig size though.
RPGJock @ Oct 15th 2009 11:32AM
This is the only caveat that will make me believe in DLC and digital distrubution. If I can't resell it, at least I will be able to pay a price that I feel agreeable with. Not a price that you have to pay and there is no other option other than don't buy.
As a consumer, I should have the right to find the best deal for my dollar. With digital distribution, you elimate free commerce and take away the number one factor in consumerism, competition.
Tridrakious @ Oct 15th 2009 3:05PM
I just realized this could be great for Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time's sales.
This will get people into the series that haven't yet.
