Atlus: More Demon's Souls shipping to retailers, deluxe edition discontinued
Atlus USA announced today that it's deploying additional copies of Demon's Souls to North American retailers. Those who've been trying get a copy in a local brick-and-mortar establishment have likely noticed the game is pretty much sold out. The company also announced that the "deluxe edition," which included the 160-page strategy guide, will not be "remanufactured" -- good thing there's an official wiki.
Demon's Souls has quickly become one the surprise hits of the holiday season, garnering acclaim from various outlets (yes, even us, for those with reading comprehension skills) and has obviously had stronger sales than Atlus was originally expecting.

Reading Comprehesion skills?!?! I don't get it (lol)
MrAlex @ Oct 19th 2009 7:08PM
read comments in review, so many idiots attacked the writer claiming he was biased when he said he liked the game.
If you were being sarcastic I'm sorry I couldn't really pick up on it.
Enrike @ Oct 19th 2009 10:51PM
I know, I did,
I guess that I'm not good at being sarcastic XD
kentuckyfried @ Oct 19th 2009 7:12PM
heheh...Deluxe Edition discontinued.
I've stockpiled about 4 at my home. Let the opportunistic raping on Ebay begin!
(j/p)
Hasn't everybody who wanted a deluxe already bought one?
RagingStormX @ Oct 19th 2009 8:35PM
I know I did. This game is being imported by retailers here in the Bahamas by paid for special order only. I had to get mines from Amazon while the getting was good. =)
mahouneko @ Oct 20th 2009 12:14AM
Fry's Electronics still carries a boatload of Demon's Souls Limited Edition. GO GO GO!
commen-cents @ Oct 19th 2009 7:26PM
i found a copy today! im not starting it until i platinum uncharted 2 though...
RagingStormX @ Oct 19th 2009 8:41PM
Wise choice my fellow man, if you really want to platinum U2 anytime soon. I popped in my copy of DS midway going for my NGS2 platinum and haven't touched another game since...also my U2 is still in the plastic now because of DS and if I am not done by the time MW2 comes out...I don't even care, that will stay in the metal case aswell.
kentuckyfried @ Oct 19th 2009 10:44PM
Yeah....trying to finish up UC2 to where I feel comfortable, then move onto DS...
Don't know how I'm going to fit in co-op hours of Borderlands too and still have to complete homework (plus I work fulltime). -_-
I need a long vacation.
Sly @ Oct 19th 2009 11:08PM
good luck with the platinum. the weapons trophies take a lot of time. especially the rarer ones like the chaingun (200 KILLS!)
commen-cents @ Oct 20th 2009 2:15AM
@sly
all i have left is to play through on crushing... should only take a day or two. might have to wait though, midterms this week :(
Filthy Assistant @ Oct 20th 2009 9:37AM
@ Sly, on my first playthrough on Normal I got all the weapon kill trophies except the Magnum and Chaingun. You basically just have to use the rarest weapon available all the time.
Chaingun does suck though since it's like wearing a big flashing sign that says SHOOT ME I CANT USE COVER.
NintendoJunkie @ Oct 19th 2009 7:29PM
I really need to get this game...even tho I don't have a PS3 yet.
Jampirow @ Oct 19th 2009 7:43PM
I need to get my copy before it disappears again!
Damn you Toys R Us, I waited to get DSs on that 3 for 2 sale only to discover that they didn't carry the game!
kentuckyfried @ Oct 19th 2009 10:45PM
I hate TRU's whole bait and switch strategy. They try to lure you in with all these titles but then when you get to the store, you're basically effed (b/c they stock those releases in such low numbers).
I'm going to try and hit them up for Borderlands tomorrow morning, but not holding my breath...
John @ Oct 19th 2009 7:47PM
Still no trophy updates after 3 months :( :( :( :(:(
tk42one12 @ Oct 19th 2009 8:09PM
Huh? It has trophies.
RagingStormX @ Oct 19th 2009 8:33PM
I think he means in the trophy portal here on joystiq..
John @ Oct 19th 2009 8:59PM
yeah i mean on the site its kinda stupid how long they have let it go i depended on them for updates but now none
Ashitaka @ Oct 20th 2009 3:26PM
ps3trophies.org
Problem solved.
tk42one12 @ Oct 19th 2009 8:08PM
Biggest surprise in the PS3 catalogue, in my opinion. So deep and satisfying and just tons of amazing atmosphere.
Probably won't be everyones cup o' tea, but it sure is mine.
eNrique @ Oct 19th 2009 8:07PM
This is Broketober.
Indeed.
MannyCalvo @ Oct 19th 2009 9:07PM
This game is the Sh*t... I haven't stopped playing since i picked it up last week.
Ghost_Crisis @ Oct 19th 2009 9:39PM
In all honesty, it hasn't left my PS3 since the day it came out...92 hours deep.
shadowhowl1900 @ Oct 19th 2009 9:56PM
and please continue making games as good as this. Me love u long time :)
CH3BURASHKA @ Oct 19th 2009 11:02PM
I was REALLY hoping of getting the deluxe edition. Oh well, I guess I don't mind shelling out some extra bucks at Amazon...
KinjiroSSD @ Oct 19th 2009 11:22PM
I couldn't find it and hopefully the selves will be replenished before the urge fades.
johnnynumber5 @ Oct 19th 2009 11:40PM
My reading comprehension skills are fantastic and I still thought the review itself lacked content and context. That was the general consensus from most of the other comments as well. Only the tards thought it was an anti demons souls review. But, it still wasn't very in depth or informative. It read more like a hands on preview than a proper review.
Ashitaka @ Oct 20th 2009 4:15PM
Agreed. Joystiq deserved the backlash it got from its (p)review so I don't get why they're complaining now.
If they wanted praise then maybe they should have written an actual review like this: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/12/review-demons-souls/comments/22292954/
Hedgeson @ Oct 20th 2009 12:35AM
The amount of praise this game is getting is amazing...
I really want to buy the game now, but I'll wait until I'm done with Uncharted 2. And THAT will have to wait until I'm done with schoolwork. Stupid university...
golobulus @ Oct 20th 2009 2:25AM
good. maybe i can actually buy/find the game now.
zefur @ Oct 20th 2009 5:15AM
Which one is it worth getting an American version or one from Hong Kong cos I'm from europe so we dont get it.
mahouneko @ Oct 21st 2009 2:10AM
I'd go with the American version mostly because the English text have been spruced up. The Asian version has a few glaring Engrish issues but other than that, they're identical.
Michael K. @ Oct 20th 2009 2:47PM
I had the deluxe edition preordered so I'm all set. I love the game, it didn't take me too much time to get used to it, I started enjoying it right away, it kinda points out why I haven't enjoyed any rpgs recently, they're all too bland and easy (I'm looking at you final fantasy 12).
I would recommend trying to get the deluxe edition, the guide is really helpful for getting you on your feet, more so than online guides
