Did someone just drop a PS3 in gold?
The PS3 Slim may be $299, but that doesn't mean it can't look like the launch price of $599. Colorware is planning on making five limited edition PS3 systems that have been dipped in 24k gold. Expect this Flava Flav-approved hardware to cost a tad more than a regular paint job from Colorware: $149.
If you do end up deciding to get one of these Midas-touched PS3s, let us know. We totally need to be friends.

do want..........

Wouldn't this cause a increase in core temperature? Because that extra layer will absorb heat, and cause it to build up inside the system.
Just a thought.

it wouldn't absorb heat (gold like basically all metals don't hold a lot of heat). It would however reflect heat.. but who knows if that really means anything significant.
But man... it's so sexy it just might be worth it.
PN04 @ Nov 11th 2009 12:21PM
Might not make it hotter but it might just melt the gold! (IKIK :P)
so wrong @ Nov 10th 2009 5:32PM
I would, but it would totally clash with all my platinum components.

Mmmmmm, I think I'll wait for the FFXIII pink one, looks sexier.

WARNING: Wearers of the gold Ps3 slim may be subjected to muggings and/or meaningless arguments (omg ps3 sux! get a real system! 360 roxz! har har har!), and threats from 360 fanboys
Wear at your own risk!

On the bright side, it screams of "Bling Bling" (and back pains) louder than anything that those black hip hop singers/stars could do.
jasoncranshaw @ Nov 10th 2009 8:19PM

I always thought the PS3 Slim was kind of ugly looking, but this is a pretty good improvement
Simstim @ Nov 10th 2009 9:04PM
I bet I could sell that to 50 Cent for $5000
thedisagree @ Nov 10th 2009 11:08PM

PS3fan420 @ Nov 11th 2009 12:19AM
That looks so sick! especially because my second 60gb just died and I'm looking to move on.
Marcus Carter @ Nov 11th 2009 2:27AM
gold is a soft metal , pretty but it would eventually over heat the the inside....then you would have a psbrick.
gblackwo @ Nov 11th 2009 8:18AM
Absorb heat bla bla bla- use your brain. As long as the vents are not covered- the gold may actually act as a heat sink and help remove heat from the system. This would require of course adequate airflow to transfer the heat from the gold to the air. Without adequate airflow, your normal non gold covered ps3's are gonna overheat.

The linked article says its some place called computer-choppers (which, if you goto their website, is all gold and high-end modifications (platinum iMac anyone?), not colorware offering these gold PS3s.
