PSP Game of the Year, as chosen by other media outlets

- GameSpot chose Puzzle Quest. "Puzzle Quest's bizarre (and bizarrely successful) confluence of gameplay mechanics really is precisely what makes it so addicting."
- GameSpy chose Final Fantasy Tactics. "Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is arguably one of the best games put forth by Square Enix, with one of the better turn-based strategy gameplay systems yet developed."
- GameTrailers chose Final Fantasy Tactics.
- IGN chose Syphon Filter. "There's a reason why Logan's Shadow is the highest rated PSP title on our site: if you own the system, you owe it to yourself to experience one of the best titles ever made for a handheld."
PS3 Game of the Year, as chosen by other media outlets

- GameDaily chose Call of Duty 4. "The campaign excels where most of its competition fails, delivering a nail-biting experience we couldn't walk away from until the explosive finale."
- GameTrailers chose Call of Duty 4. "The authenticity on display here is to be commended, getting you as close as you can possibly be to something that far braver people experience--without the risk."
- GameSpot chose Call of Duty 4. "Modern Warfare is now the benchmark against which all console shooters will be judged, and we're not expecting it to be bettered anytime soon."
- GameSpy chose Call of Duty 4. "A game that hit every target it aimed for, from its gripping single-player campaign to the ridiculously addictive I've-almost-got-enough-XP-for-that-cool-gun multiplayer."
- IGN chose Uncharted. "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune serves as the culmination of fun gameplay, an immersive story, stunning graphics, superb sound and characters you can connect with."
Playboy: Heavenly Sword has 'Best Jiggle Factor'
Here's what they had to say about the game: "This game has more than a few rough edges, but we loved its compelling scenario and character design. Nariko is gorgeous but also strong, angry and vulnerable. By the end, you don't just want to date her, you want to marry her."
It beat out other scandalous and lewd games such as Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Conan and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary. With this well-deserved recognition, could it mean that Nariko could have a future spread in Playboy's Girl's of Gaming?

PS Fanboy 2007: Disappointment of the Year

Every year, no matter what console you own, there are a few games that fall to the market with such a thud you feel your reputation for playing video games drop a little. Yes, these games damage everything we've come to support and whether the game itself is bad or suffered from a gigantic hype machine that everybody jumped on for no apparent reason, the games simply didn't do what we wanted. This award isn't for "worst" game of the year, no, but the biggest disappointment. The games that could have been something, but weren't. For all intents and purposes, this award could actually be construed as "worse" than the "worst".

PS Fanboy Best of 2007: Best Strategy Game

This is the one category to rule them all. PSP became the de-facto system to own for fans of the strategy genre, and chances are, the winner of this category will end up winning the coveted Game of the Year award. This is easily the most difficult genre to pick a winner from.

PS Fanboy Best of 2007: Best Strategy Game

2007 didn't really see the release of many strategy games. The games are generally slow-paced, involve a lot of micromanagement, and have branching stories that lead to a multitude of endings. Whether turn-based, real-time, or some sort of middle ground, strategy games almost always make for an exciting gaming experience. Knowing this, we should mention the single strategy game that earns an automatic victory this year.

PS Fanboy Best of 2007: Best Role-Playing Game

The PSP had a ton of great RPG's in 2007. Sadly, we can't nominate them all. These character-driven stories of general world-destruction or important-person-saving are all delightful romps and we're proud to own a handheld that delivers an experience comparable to some of their console brethren.

PS Fanboy Best of 2007: Best Role-Playing Game

If you haven't guessed from our posts or podcasts, a lot of the PS3 Fanboy staff are huge fans of the role-playing genre. While 2007 didn't see any "traditional" releases as far as JRPG's go, there are still a couple of games we'd be foolish not to mention.
