The cult PSP hit, Yuusha no Kuze ni Namaikida, is getting a sequel in Japan rather soon. However, will this retro-styled game make its way to the US under a new name? Perhaps. The PlayStation Japan TGS site lists the game as Destroy All Heroes 2 -- very different from a standard translation of the Japanese title. We're thinking this English title must've come from somewhere. However, it's similarity to THQ's Destroy All Humans series does put a shadow of doubt on this theory.

With the US software library so dry right now, a release of Yuusha onto the PSP Store (for direct download) makes a lot of sense. Hopefully, the fine folks at SCEA see things the way we do.

When the quirky Japan-only title Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida or2 is released later this year, gamers in the land of the rising sun will get the choice between a digital download and a traditional UMD release. Both versions will be released simultaneously on October 16th. However, the PSN download will be 2,800 yen (about $25) while the hard copy will be 3,980 yen (about $36). Check out the latest trailer for Yuusha above, which unveils, amongst other things, a Demon Room mode, where you manage your dungeon without the interruption of pesky heroes.

Bleach Soul Carnival will apparently be receiving the same treatment. 3,800 yen (about $35) for the download and 4,743 yen (about $43) for the UMD, both with a release date of October 23rd. What do you guys think about this? The Japanese have been slow to adopt digital downloads. Are the significantly lower price points for these high-profile releases Sony's incentive for gamers to accept this new distribution method?

The sequel's name is Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida or2, and the fundamental gameplay hasn't changed much. You are still an evil overlord maintaining an underground lair with heroes trying to drag you above ground and vanquish you. Now you have access to more monsters, four times the levels, face new heroes and have a world map to explore. All of this will complicate the lair you must maintain in order to keep your monsters healthy and heroes out of your evil lair. We never knew being your own boss was so complicated.

Good job CVG! You guessed Sony's mysterious game correctly! A few days ago, a mysterious countdown appeared, featuring retro art reminiscent of the PSP exclusive Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida. Looks like the "or2" mysterious referenced on the site is the name for the sequel. The original Yuusha had players in a retro universe, taking down heroes with their minion horde. The sequel to this surprising cult hit promises more monsters and more heroes.

Senior producer Masami Yamamoto explained to Weekly Famitsu magazine (via 1UP). "A lot of gamers just wanted more to play with, so volume was the first thing. Also, since there were fewer stages in the first game, some of them had a challenge level that was far more of an uphill battle for the player than previous stages. With more stages at our disposal, we wanted to be sure we smoothed that over and gradually increased the challenge instead."

Finally, here's a video trailer of the upcoming PSP anti-hero RPG, Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida. This PSP exclusive plays homage to an era where games were simpler. The retro pixelated graphics may appear too dated for some, while others will find it absolutely charming. Regardless of the graphics, one must admit that the kill-the-heroes approach to the gameplay does have its appeal. Hopefully, we'll see someone pick this game up for an English release in the future.

We love this brand new official theme created for the anti-hero RPG, Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida. The retro pixelated look for the icons are great, and a lot of character to the standard PSP XMB. A wallpaper is also included with the theme, but we wanted to focus on the great pixel design.

Japan is getting two hotly-anticipated PSP games soon. First is the rhythm + cuteness + war game, Patapon. This game has you controlling a rather vicious group of adorable cuddly things on their conquest to destroy everything in their sight. Of course, you do so with the power of music.

Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikda is a RPG where you try to stop potential heroes with your minion horde. This reverse-dungeon crawler features some old school graphics, but maybe that's part of its charm.

RPG bosses are pretty cool. Not only can they summon foreign planets to crash into their enemies, they can send out hordes of minions to go after potential do-gooders. But, it seems like they're prone to getting murdered by teams of three or four adolescents bent on taking away their treasure. No more!

A new RPG is being prepared for the PSP. Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaiki da (or as IGN has translated it "For a Hero, You're Pretty Impudent") has you playing as the villain. As the Demon Lord, you must create a dungeon and dispatch monsters to get rid of any heroes that try to get in your way. Apparently, all fighting is done automatically, which makes this game stray very far from its RPG roots. Fascinating.

Over time, your dungeon and minions will grow stronger -- but so will your opponents. This inventive twist on RPG gameplay is set to hit Japan on December 6th. We can't wait to find out more.
