Capcom: Marvel vs Capcom 2 on XBLA July 29, PSN date coming 'soon'
The Capcom Unity twitter account revealed something interesting this morning: Marvel vs Capcom 2 will be gracing Xbox Live on July 29 -- and Capcom PR separately confirmed a 1200
($15) price. For those of you wondering about its arrival on PSN, Capcom promises an announcement "soon." Sharpen those claws (and those Hadoukens), because it's about to be on.

Baby Chun-Li imparts an important lesson
Photographed by Capcom staffers at last weekend's Anime Expo in Los Angeles, this baby dressed like Chun Li offers a little something we can all learn from. That lesson, of course, is that this is the last age at which cosplay is morally acceptable. Now go home, wash the gel out of your hair spikes, write it in your adorable NERV diary, and never, ever, forget it.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite does monsterously well in Japan

Japanese PSP owners are united in their love of Capcom's latest Monster Hunter installment. According to figures released today, Freedom Unite -- which just launched here in the US -- has sold a total of 3.5 million copies in Japan since its release there in March. Capcom notes that this includes 1 million in sales of the game's "The Best" budget line version.
The Monster Hunter franchise is not nearly as huge in the States, but that's something that could change once Sony finally releases its adhocParty app for PS3 here. It enables groups of PSP users to play online with full voice chat, which kinda makes coordinating to bring down the beasts a whole lot easier -- and fun.

Way of the Samurai 2 Portable announced and dated for Japan
Originally released on PlayStation 2 back in May of 2004, Way of the Samurai 2 hit American shores by way of Japanese megapublisher Capcom. After bringing the first in the series to Japanese PSPs last year, the game's developer, Spike, recently announced in Famitsu that it'll be porting the sequel to the handheld.
Unfortunately, while the PSP is region-free, we doubt it'll come with an English language choice for those of you interested in living out your dreams of roaming the Japanese countryside, fighting injustice at every turn. And though we asked Capcom for comment on an American release, considering the first one never arrived, we're not expecting much. Siliconera says the game releases in Japan on September 3 for around $40 (plus airfare).

Bionic Commando swings to PC July 17 in EU, July 28 in US
If you've been anxiously awaiting Nathan Spencer's latest romp, Bionic Commando, on the PC, then we've got some important days you'll need to mark on your calendar. First up, courtesy of Eurogamer, we know the title will release in Europe on July 17. Capcom has confirmed with us that the game will arrive in North America two weeks later, on July 28.
The PC version of Bionic Commando will feature the same gameplay as its console counterparts, but will boast new features in DirectX 9 and 10 support, higher resolutions, customizable controls and online options. Considering the game only managed to move 27,000 copies on consoles in its first month of US release, we wonder how the PC launch will fare.

The guns come out in new Lost Planet 2 screens
Click image for running and gunning
Capcom deployed some fresh screens from its upcoming sequel, Lost Planet 2, focusing on some gunplay and how blinding the game's light is. Seriously, look at the muzzle flash and the explosions in these screens and tell us that isn't the brightest thing you've ever seen in your life. To round things out, there's also a giant Akrid to ogle, one that looks like it won't be easy to take down. Hit up the gallery below to check it out.

Weekly Monster Hunter DLC begins today
Just like its Japanese counterpart, the English language version of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will feature weekly downloadable content. Best of all, it'll be free! Expect updates every Friday for the next few months. The first content update, available today, is a new "Epic Hunting Quest" called "The Triumvirate of the Sands." This quest will feature the monsters Daimyo Hermitaur, Tigrex, Plesioth, and will take place in the desert (hence the "Sands" part, you see?). Survive and you'll be able to net 12300z.
In order to download the DLC, all you need to do is boot up the game in your PSP and click Download from the start menu. No need to log on to the PlayStation Network or download anything from the PlayStation Store. Not bad, huh?

Capcom's mystery game is Sengoku Basara 3

No platforms or really any other information were revealed about Sengoku Basara 3, other than the logo, two character silhouettes, and a 2010 date. Previous Sengoku Basara games have been released on PS2, PSP, and Wii (along with an arcade-based 2D fighting spinoff).
The series isn't that well-known in North America, but in Japan, its popularity (and the sudden popularity of actual Japanese history) is boosted by the tie-in anime series.
New Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles trailer makes with the cheap scares
Hopefully you'll be able to get through this two-and-a-half minute trailer without suffering a coronary. We'll cross our fingers for you.
Capcom reveals list of PSP and PS1 games coming to PSN

Capcom is making good on its promise to release a ridiculous amount of PSP and PS1 titles on the PSN and has announced, via the PS Blog, the next batch of games that will be available to (re)purchase. Resident Evil fans won't be disappointed with the rest of the PS1 franchise entries making their way to the PSN, alongside Dino Crisis. PSP fans will also get their hands on seven titles, including two Mega Man games, two Capcom Classics collections, Darkstalkers and Power Stone Collection.
It's a pretty good bunch of games and you can see the full list after the break. Other than Capcom Classics Remixed, which releases in America this week, none of the other games have been dated for any territory, nor even confirmed for European release. We've contacted Capcom Europe to ask, but release dates for the US will be revealed on the PlayStation Blog over time.

Shadaloo Lounge celebrates 'Legend of Chun-Li' DVD release, awards $2000
Do not adjust your eyes, you are seeing multiple Chun-Lis. After transforming LA's Chinatown Mountain Bar into M. Bison's favorite watering hole, Mike Ross was awarded $2,000 for placing first in best-of-16 Street Fighter IV tournament. The one-night-only event was organized by Capcom and I Am 8-bit to "celebrate" the DVD and Blu-ray release of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. We think "celebrate" is the wrong word, but according to Capcom's Unity blog, that's what the party was organized for.
We send our congratulations to Mike for winning the tourney and send our condolences to Capcom for being forced to giveaway nearly all profit* they extracted from the travesty that was Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
*For the record, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li made a few million bones, but it was one helluva train wreck.

Bionic Commando Rearmed update coming to XBLA as well

Eleven days ago Capcom's John Diamonon assured us that the patch (at least on PSN) "should be available real soon"; however, as of today, neither patch has appeared. We'll go ahead and assume the new release date is "really really soon."

Lost Planet 2 demo coming 'soon,' features 4-player co-op
If you were jealous that we got our greasy, unworthy hands on a 4-player co-op demo of Lost Planet 2 during our ransacking of E3 2009, you can now cool your jets -- according to producer Jun Takeuchi during an appearance on Famitsu's "Midnight Live 360," the same demo is coming to Xbox Live "soon." Actually, Takeuchi's exact words were, "soon, I guess," a sentiment that doesn't exactly fill us with optimism regarding the actual soon-ness of the demo's release.
Takeuchi showcased a number of new features during the Famitsu program, such as computer-controlled bots, custom weapon sets and character customization, which he explained can be done using items you unlock in tandem with certain achievements. We don't know whether any of these features will be present in the demo -- but if it's as similar to the E3 demo as Takeuchi says, it should be radical enough without them.

Capcom puts Marvel vs Capcom 2 release near 'the end of July'
Further clarifying reports from nearly two months ago surrounding the release of Marvel vs Capcom 2 on XBLA/PSN, Capcom's Twitter account is putting the game's digital release "closer to the end of July." Oddly enough, the statement claims to not know where the "rumor" came from, though Marvel Entertainment's Q1 2009 financial report (sourced below) was clearly the culprit.
In the month or so you have before the game releases, you should probably head over to Shoryuken's MvC2 forums to find out how badly you're going to get stomped online. And yes, you will get stomped. We all will.
