MGS4, Ratchet, others $30 as PS3 'Greatest Hits' starting June 16

Old Snake, domestic partners Ratchet & Clank, glam goth Nero and others will be offered up as PS3 "Greatest Hits" for $30 starting June 16. This will be the second round of discounted best-selling software for the console, as the first batch hit at around the same time last year. The latest additions include:
  • Army of Two
  • Battlefield Bad Company
  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
  • Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
With almost all those titles (maybe) prepping for sequels in the near future, if you haven't checked them out, there's some quality in the offerings.

Devil May Cry hits 10 million shipped

We may not always have loved every one of his games or his hairstyles, but we wanted to take a moment to tip our hat to Dante, whose Devil May Cry series has reached the milestone of 10 million units shipped. For some perspective, 10 million pennies would make a six-foot by six-foot cube, a cube we imagined would be considerably larger and more impressive before we started doing the math.

When asked if he was choked up by the news, Dante said, "Devils never cry ... These tears, tears are a gift only humans have." Nero later chimed in unprompted that he was going to Disneyworld.

Capcom: No trophy support for Devil May Cry 4

A poster on Capcom Unity's forums has received an answer to the question of whether Devil May Cry 4 and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be getting the trophy treatment and it is no. Capcom feels that DMC4 already has "its own little trophylike system" and the Puzzle Fighter team has moved on to other projects.

There is a tiny bit of good news though, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix may have trophies implemented, but it will depend on "what schedules look like and what Sony's requirements are." The only real good news is future games from Capcom will all have trophies, as it has "been worked into CEI's developer contracts as a required deliverable." Have other publishers signed such a contract?

This is rather disappointing, but after a string of such reports, we are not surprised. We are just really hoping SSF2T HD Remix will have support.

[Thanks, Jake C.!]

Devil May Cry 4 tears up PCs this Summer, demo on the way

You know the industry's come a long way when consoles are no longer the exclusive domain of androgynous, sword-waving jackasses with glowing demon arms. Capcom has sent us a reminder that the Personal Computer version of Devil May Cry 4, the latest (and commercially successful) entry in its slash-and-shoot saga, is due to arrive "THIS SUMMER." Said version will enhance Nero and Dante's adventure by adding "new modes, enhanced graphics options and some additional content."

For those not sold on the joys of launching demons into the air and then shooting them repeatedly, Capcom will offer a demo and performance benchmark before the retail version ships.

European PSN Updates for February 21st

Rut roh. Don't look now, but today's update is really rather bad. It's been a while since we've come out and said that a PSN update has been dire, because the quality has improved drastically over the last six months. Still, unless you're a fan of developer diaries, or demos that have been on the US Store for two weeks, then there's not a lot here for you. Here's the full release list:
It seems that SCEE have put Snakeball back on the front page, even though it came out in December. Our guess is it's their attempt to pad out today's update, but it hasn't really worked. Oh well, the long wait until next Thursday starts now.

Capcom: Devil May Cry 4 is now double platinum

Riding through fields of cash on the back of their hack and slash money machine, today Capcom announced that Devil May Cry 4 has officially went double platinum selling over 2 million copies worldwide. This announcement comes hot on the heels of news that the DMC4 demo served 1 million gamers and word that the 360 version overwhelmingly outsold the PS3 version. We're thinking Capcom is quite proud of their decision to take DMC4 multi-platform seeing all the success the game has already had. We're also thinking 1.5 million of the 2 million copies sold were probably on the Xbox 360. Oh yeah, we so went there.

Devil May Cry 4 sheds 2 million tears

Capcom's leather-clad bender Devil May Cry 4 has shipped out an impressive 2 million units since its debut two weeks ago, making it the first game in the opulent franchise to reach the milestone so quickly and the latest feather in the cap for Capcom's now 9 million unit selling series.

This accolade is no doubt helped by the fact that the sequel, unlike those that came before it, was released for two platforms simultaneously, satiating players' thirst for over-the-top action regardless if they wave their banner over the Xbox 360 or PS3. In addition, Capcom continues to note that a PC version, for those inclined to play console-style games while tethered to their monitor and desk chair, will be released in the months ahead.

Devil May Cry 4 hits 2 million worldwide

It appears Capcom's decision to release Devil May Cry 4 on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 is paying immediate dividends as the company has announced the new entry in the popular series has already sold two million units throughout the world.

Additionally, this remarkable number now accounts for nearly a quarter of the entire series' total sales, which is pretty darn impressive.

Unfortunately, the one thing Capcom didn't release is how sales for each console stacked up, so it appears the fanboy wars will have take a break for a little while. Perhaps we can all agree to a ceasefire and just appreciate that a good game from a great franchise is this successful.
There's not really a whole lot more to say other than congratulations on making a bajillion dollars Capcom.
