DJ Max Fever is being re-released on PSP today via the PlayStation Network. The Korean music game has been a hit amongst hardcore rhythm enthusiasts, but it's been a rather difficult game to find outside of import shops and specialty retailers. The game's re-release on the PlayStation Store should introduce it to a whole new audience.

With gameplay similar to Beatmania, DJ Max Fever should help fill the void left by the termination of Rock Band Unplugged DLC. Good news for PSP Go owners: Fever will include 60 songs from the get-go, with no need to buy the game piecemeal.

The "Crew Edition" package of DJ Max Fever includes all the goodies of the Limited Edition but comes in a new US-only box. Each set comes with the 3-disc soundtrack, art book, puzzle, post cards, poster, mask, Technika Players Card and a signed copy of DJ Max Fever.

Only 125 copies have been made. The "Crew Edition" will be available for $130 exclusively at Bemani Style.

We haven't heard much about the upcoming US release of DJ Max Fever. The PSP-exclusive music game is set to hit American audiences soon, and many are wondering what Korean hits will be in the game. Naphistim, webmaster of DJMAX:US, received the full song list from PM Studios' Michael Yum. It can be viewed after the break.

The odds of DJ Max Fever becoming a runaway success are slim. In spite of an obvious uphill battle, Michael Yum and the rest of the PM Studios gang are trying their best to get the Korean music game to the hardcore masses of PSP owners. The upcoming US version of the notoriously difficult music game won't get a gimped localized soundtrack, which will certain lessen its mainstream appeal. "We pretty much knew we were going exclusively for the hardcore gamers," Yum told The Escapist.

However, Yum notes that their best bet comes with the hardcore market. "In the US, active PSP owners are the hardcore gamers. There aren't many casual-oriented PSP titles, you know? We didn't think we were going to attract the casual audiences the first time anyway."

Thankfully, there's some hope for DJ Max Fever, as Sony has offered the team their "full support" in promoting the game. "Just earlier this week, Sony offered us full support for the title. They want to push specific games that they see as key titles ... They also want to put our game on the billboards and in the commercials, so yeah, hopefully you'll be seeing a lot more of DJ Max Fever with Sony backing it up." While PSP Fanboy readers are most likely familiar with the game, Yum and the rest of the DJ Max team will need all the help they can get -- Sony's vote of confidence doesn't guarantee them success, but it certainly evens the odds just a litlte bit.

"American arcades?" Really? Do they still exist? The good ol' days of coin operated machines seemed long gone, but maybe things are changing. Tekken 6 and Street Fighter IV have enticed gamers to go to the few arcades remaining in the US. PM Studios is joining the movement by bringing popular Korean arcade game, DJ Max Technika, to the States this December.

Technika is a continuation of the Beatmania-style music game. Unlike previous DJ Max games, Technika utilizes a touch screen. Players must tap the screen as notes go across a blue line. As usual, Technika will feature full-motion video in the background and music from popular Korean musicians, like Clazziquai, 015B, BJJ, Sugar Donut, Garion, Humming Urban Stereo, Yozoh, and more.

Like many Japanese and Korean arcade cabinets, Technika will also be equipped with internet connectivity, to provide global leaderboards and updates to the game. IC Cards will save player progress. Test locations where players can try out Technika will be revealed in the coming days.

It's finally happening. DJ Max is coming to America, and in a big way too. DJ Max Fever is the ultimate version of DJ Max so far -- and best of all, you won't have to pay for crazy import fees. Check out this new trailer to see all the features Fever is packing.

Some of us were worried about DJ Max Fever, the upcoming English release of the popular PSP music game. Why? The mock-up box art used by PM Studios was a little ... iffy. Thankfully, that's all changed, as they've revealed their brand new much sexier box art (above).

The DJ Max games in Korea received some ridiculously cool, and expensive, limited edition sets (pictured, above). Looks like the upcoming US release of DJ Max Fever will follow suit. However, it may be hard to find at your local retailer. Michael Yum from PM Studios explained to Bemanistyle: "We are currently working on the limited edition package. Being a new publisher, it is very hard for us to get commitments from retailers on the limited edition."

Game Director Ki In Kim also added that DLC may be in the works for Fever. "Downloadable content is something we are planning right now." Considering the success of DLC for music games on consoles, we think that's a pretty smart idea.

It's undeniable that there's been a serious drought of new PSP software for the past few months. While this may be a deterrent to many publishers and developers, it's actually considered a plus for PM Studios, the publisher behind the upcoming US release of DJ Max Fever. In an interview with Siliconera, Michael Yum of PM Studios noted that "the game should be easy to find. Almost every retailer has made a commitment to the game. The drought of PSP games has really helped us, lol."

That's a great thing to hear, too. We were afraid that this import hit would fall by the wayside. Expect more on the upcoming US release of DJ Max as we get closer to its release.

It may not be exactly indicative of the content featured in the upcoming US version of DJ MAX Fever, but Korean site Ruliweb has some excellent audio and video samples from the upcoming DJ MAX arcade game, Technika Arcade. The various audio files will have you getting a feel for this unique Korean rhythm game.

Wait, what's that in the mail? Our very own copy of DJ Max Fever? ZOMG! The incredibly popular Korean music game is finally coming Stateside. The gameplay should be familiar to those that have played a Beatmania game: you must press buttons that correspond with falling notes. However, DJ Max is known for its notorious difficulty. Beware!

DJ Max Fever is a mix of the two DJ Max Portable games released in Asia so far. With over 100 songs, five difficulty levels, Network Battle Mode, and an unlockable gallery of music videos, soundtracks and images, this looks like a winning addition to the PSP library. Even more surprising, it's coming out soon: November 11th.
