US version of Hammerin' Hero features shorter load times
Don't let this one slip under your radar. Atlus is publishing Hammerin' Hero, a PSP-exclusive platformer -- and it's available in stores today. This isn't just a quick localization, though. The game's project lead, Sammy Matsushima, explained to Siliconera that some real work went into the US version. "We added much more English voiced dialogue than what was included in the original Japanese release, along with the option to select the Japanese voice tracks for the purists who want to play in its native language," Matsushima explains.
Additional voice acting isn't the only new feature of the US version of the game; the gameplay has also been tweaked. "The character movement was slightly sped up for better response. We also addressed the long loading times before each stage and almost cut them by half." PSP owners have suffered through some pretty bad load times before, so we're glad to see this is something that was addressed.
Considering the large number of games Atlus plans on releasing on PSP, it's great to see the company is putting real effort into each localized product. Hammerin' Hero is, hopefully, a good sign of things to come.

Pre-order Hammerin' Hero, get free figurines
Atlus' upcoming Hammerin' Hero may not be getting a lot of hype, but hardcore gamers that are looking forward to this PSP-exclusive platformer may want to pre-order the game at GameStop. Why? The retailer is offering an exclusive pre-order bonus: a free set of two figurines.
These two mini-statues are adorably Japanese. We're certain not too many copies of this game will be printed, making it more limited than most "Limited Editions" out on the market. The game will be available in April for $30.

Atlus PR reveals the Hammerin' Hero stages
We have to give much love to Atlus for their continued support of PSP. The upcoming platformer Hammerin' Hero is unlikely to light up the sales charts, but bless Atlus for trying. A recent e-mail highlights many of the stages to be found in the upcoming adventure. We're personally enamored with the quaint Japanese stylings of the game. Perhaps you will too after taking a look:
Beranme Town: You may feel at home pacing through this small village, what with the construction going on in the background (you do wield a hammer), but it's certainly feeling less and less like home for the hapless citizens of this small town. Hyosuke Kuromoku and his henchmen seem to have some schemes in play, and only you and your hammer can pummel them into submission.

Atlus brings Ikuze Gen to US as Hammerin' Hero
Atlus is bringing yet another PSP game to our shores. Ikuze Gen is coming to the US as Hammerin' Hero. The game is a 2D platformer from Irem, where the main character uses a hammer and causes lots of destruction. Simple, right?
The game will have both English and Japanese voiceovers. There are twelve levels in all, and through the adventure, players will don a variety of jobs and unlock additional playable characters. We're glad to see this unlikely candidate make its way to the States --it's always good to see another addition to the PSP library.
