Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix busts jewels on August 30th

Capcom has posted on their official message boards that greatest-puzzle-game-ever, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has been finished and will hit the PlayStation Store in just over a week on August 30th. The game will run you 10 dollars; a great deal considering it was a full priced game when it was released on the PlayStation 1, the Saturn, and the GBA.

SPFIITHDR sports a shiny 1080p make-over, full online play with leaderboards, and tweaked gameplay balance -- all things fans of the game should greatly appreciate. Anybody else going to get their jeweled Hadouken on?

Super Puzzle Fighter releases next week

Over at Capcom's online blogging space they've officially announced that Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has passed Microsoft certification and is ready at the gate to be released next Wednesday. The XBLA game, barring any unforeseen technical issues, will be available the morning of August 29th for 800 Microsoft points and should satisfy everyone's puzzle fighting hunger. And yes, we're so loving SPFIITHDR's pink color scheme for the main screen, because it reminds us of cotton candy and happy.

Super Puzzle Fighter II HD is almost here

1up is reporting that Capcom has almost finished up Super Puzzle Fighter II HD and that we should have it in our grubby little hands before the end of the month. The remake of the popular and wildly addictive puzzler from the mid-90s is getting a massive upgrade in graphics, with 1080p support, new artwork and some fancy new gem effects (seriously -- they're hot). While the graphical updates aren't as amazing as the Super Street Fighter II HD treatment, they're still fantastic looking and are nothing to scoff at.

While we wait for the actual game to get released on the PlayStation Store, take a gander at the hot puzzle action in the gallery below. And remember, if you aren't excited for this game, you have no soul.

SPFIIHDR July release FTGDMFW!

Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Remix's release has been announced as July over at Capcom digital. On top of that, a new wallpaper (pictured above) is available at 1920 x 1200 and 1280 x 1024 resolutions. Producer Robert Hamiter also gives details on the retooled artwork, which is being done by Udon Comics, as well as some of the other graphical enhancements with the gems and other facelifting effects. Puzzle Fighter to be priced the same for Xbox Live, PSN

It wasn't easy getting Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, according to Capcom's Sr. Director of Strategic Planning & Research Christian Svensson. "It requires considerable coordination," he said in an interview with Gamasutra, "but we've been working closely with Sony and Microsoft, and they both agree with our strategy."

In terms of price, Svensson said that they will likely be identical for both platforms. "We're offering the same value as far as the type of content, so it only stands to reason," he said. "If the timing's the same, and if the content is the same, pricing should probably be the same."

Svensson added that multplatform releases, even in the real of downloadable content, would be Capcom's primary focus, but that console-specific content might happen. "Are there exclusive content deals that could be struck? Possibly," he said.
